Playing through Ben There Dan That.

Bought Time Gentlemen, Please a while back when it was posted on RPS but I couldn't get it to run on my bootcamped Windows 7.

The steam version seems to run though so whatever.

I am enjoying.

It took me a while to spot the laser (of death) I fear that when the game is running and I'm hopskipjumping about I might miss it entirely and end up getting deathed  Epileptic

I dislike being deathed.

Make it pretty and bright or sparkly or something...

Otherwise I am liking the look so far.

He bounces now.

I'm still in the planning stages really. It's going to have perspective switches and the like so I'm trying to work out how to get it all to link together smoothly.

Also I'm taking a break from devving and learning to art right now. But hopefully I'll get around to making this soon.

You guys inspired me to try to learn to art.

I was also inspired by Frijj.

I made a pixel.

I meant to mention you should tell me if you thought this had been done before so cheers.

Checked out Made In Wired. While it follows a similar idea to this I think it looks more shooty while my game will be more drivey. It is quite hard to explain but I think it will be fun. The wario ware similarities are not so much in the shortness of the gameplay segments but more in the franticness of the switching so you will quickly go from dodging cars horizontally to going through hoops in your submarine which are on different heights. Then you'll have to eject and use lunar lander type physics to dodge the walls until your hanglider backpack opens and you can fly back down to your car that is actually a monstertruck which you have to keep upright ala excitebike.

It feels good in my head.

Ok this is a totally crazy 2am game idea but I think it has legs.

Basically taking a bunch of games like Spyhunter and Rrootage and R-Type and Er... Gravity Hook and Trials and cutting them up into tiny warioware like sections and making it a progressively harder/faster game to see who can get the furthest.

If you understand my idea from this basic description, the proposed name should help your brain, then I'm open for suggestions for car "modes" and also any general suggestions you might want to give.

I'll draw some terrible representations and set up a blog and describe it properly tomorrow morning but I figured I should get my ideas down on paper before I go to sleep.

P.S. Remember to pick up your MU in the morning.

I had real trouble with this on my Vista rig. The framerate is so low I think I probably counted about 3 seconds between each second on the clock.

This makes me sad because it looks fantastic and I want to play :<

Anybody got this working on Windows 7? I hear talk of gamemaker disliking Nvidia cards or something so maybe a driver upgrade is in order.

Anyone? I love this game but I dislike turning on my desktop.

Haha, thank you for reminding me this exists.

I read about it a few months ago and had every intention of watching it but I forgot.

I tell you it really is tempting. I'm struggling to work out what I am working on at the moment.

I just don't want to give up on another project so soon. We'll see.

Haha. Wow this pretty much sums up my topic from a few days ago.

Yeah it's pretty much true though isn't it.

I'm pretty sure I am guilty of many though I am not sure guilt is the word because really a lot of them seem to be part of human nature.

My city building project? Not really started work on it yet. I am always nothing things down though. It is kind of a big thing so I don't want to get going without at least a basic idea of what I am doing Tongue

*joins the club*

I'm really quite tired of uni, but have invested too much time and energy in it to give up (and if I did that - where the hell would I go anyway?). If you do decide to go back to uni, go for something shortish - four years is too goddamn long.

Heh. I'd like to do something in art or music as they are both areas I need to improve in but that being the case I haven't got the skills to get on a degree course.

As for living til 40. I'd rather do that than lock myself in a bubble and live to be 90.
255  Player / General / Re: Lost in Life on: July 30, 2009, 10:47:34 AM
Yeah settling is something that worries me. I have to keep my mind actively enforcing a don't give up rule.

To be honest I think I might end up going back to uni. The only fear there is that failing once more will destroy me. For like a week.

Ah well. Time to work on something I guess.

Get a dog.

I have 2 in my house. Loathsome creatures. I prefer cats. Cat's might be evil but they never try to persuade you otherwise.

Seriously I think I might just be ill. I'll get over it. A good game idea would help. Can anyone recommend my some good games in which you get to play the bad guy? Free would work best as I just got fired for being ill.

read FML it'll make you feel better about your own life

also, go to a GDC

I've been to 3. I think one of the big issues that is bugging me is my inability to afford it next year.
258  Player / General / Re: Lost in Life on: July 30, 2009, 07:28:15 AM
Haha, the girlfriend thing isn't so much the problem. It's more that she was the only person I knew as unsure as me and now everyone I know appears to have it sorted. They might be miserable but at least they can pretend they're not.

Ah well I'll keep fiddling away with games and stuff until I come across something I like.
259  Player / General / Re: Learning things that are good to do on: July 30, 2009, 06:08:47 AM
Music and Art. I need to learn these so I can make my own games :>

Also learning how to not fall asleep after a few minutes of exercise. That'd be nice.
260  Player / General / Re: Lost in Life on: July 30, 2009, 05:12:11 AM
To be honest I find myself too distracted by making games to get on with anything else. I think this is the problem. Especially when I start feeling like I should be doing other things my game motivation would fall through.

There might be other courses to try, or different universities. This is the sort of thing I am trying to decide.
