Jobs / Offering Paid Work / [Closed] Looking for pixel artist for 1-2 weeks of paid work
|

I'm looking for a pixel artist. I want to have an idle and walking animation done for my game's main character, and I also want a gameplay mockup made. The game's resolution is 640x360. The colors and style would be similar to these: (These are just references, not work owned by me) https://gfycat.com/powerfulparallelbobolinkhttps://gfycat.com/capitaloddballjerboahttps://i.imgur.com/gKvVqIU.jpgThe style, colors, and resolution are all flexible. I prefer to let you be creative, so if you come up with your own style I might be willing to go with that instead. This work should only take a week, two at most, which I will pay for upon completion. After that's done, it will likely be at least a few months before I need any more art, but at that point I'd hopefully be able to hire an artist full time. If you're interested, email me at [email protected]. Please include examples of your pixel art, animations and previous experience (if you have any). Thanks!

Immersive Cult, a party planning company that I've worked with on multiple occasions, sent me a recommendation which I'll paste below.
"We hired Thomas different times over the years. He worked with us in several project like CNN Election Night 2016,where he make Hilary themed games and for an engagement party in late June of last year where he make three games themed around the couple. It was a pleasure to work with him thanks to his professionalism and the ability to comply with impending deadlines. highly recommended."

Developer / Playtesting / Re: Game Name Clinic - I will rate your game's name

Yeah, I think just Plaguepunk is best. Doesn't seem pretentious at all to me. Seems like capitalizing on a lack of someone having already used the name. It's a good position for you to be in and an opportunity you shouldn't miss, in my opinion.

Developer / Playtesting / Re: Corporate Volcano

- The title is a bit misleading. The game doesn't actually feature anything corporate in its design or mechanics. Off the top of my head, a better name would have been Tuxedo Volcano or something like that.
Thanks for all the compliments! As for the title, it's because you're a business man having a nightmare. It's all symbolic. The lava represents being fired. You're climbing the 'ladder' working your ass off to avoid being fired. Coffee makes you more alert and thus things move slower. You pick up bonuses and overtime along the way. The platform enemies are promotions because they bounce you high. The other enemies are Stress, blocking your way and knocking you down. - It was a matter of trail and error to find out what position would kill an enemy, if it was even possible. Some enemies you could jump on, some you could jump into, and some are just invincible. The game does a poor job of telegraphing how the player should approach each enemy.
- Some more sound effects would go a long way to make the game feel more polished and complete.
- Controls don't feel amazing, they are a little loose and floaty if that makes sense. Polishing the controls for any game is genuinely hard to do but I think for a platform the level of expectation is even higher due to people's history with platformers and the level of care that usually goes into control in a platformer.
I completely agree about sound effects and the controls. You're the first I've heard mention the enemies and collision with them. I could definitely see it taking some trial and error though, so I'll keep that in mind for updates. Thanks for the feedback guys!

i literally have a ps4 with just bloodbourne and netflix....no other console games have really interested me in the slightest, lol
I mean, everyone has different tastes, but for me Bloodborne, Last of Us, Uncharted 4, Uncharted Collection, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy XV, God of War 3 Remastered, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc... all make the system super worth it for me. Some games I also just buy on PS4 cause I have it and its cheaper on that system (on sale or something) like Mad Max.

I'm weak and bought a PS4 just for Bloodborne. Worked out well. I own a dozen games on the system that I love and there's a bunch more I'm looking forward to. I'm easy to please though.

and is there any interesting lore on ocelotte? it seems like queen lothric is gwynevere, making lorian, lothric, ocelotte, and gertrude/rosaria her children.
Oceiros was the king and father to three children: Lorian, Lothric and Ocelotte. At some point, Ocelotte left him or was taken from him and he was heartbroken about it. He started to go mad with grief and became obsessed with becoming a dragon, which is why he looks so weird. By the time you reach him he's gone so mad that he's talking to an imaginary baby in his arms that he thinks is Ocelotte. I don't know about Rosaria that much. I don't know if Gwynevere was queen lothric but most theorists think she's the Dancer. In some item descriptions it says that the Dancer was a distance daughter of a god. Presumably that's Gwyn and the Dancer is Gwynevere since we know she moved far away before the events of Dark Souls 1. That's just a theory though.

@Alevice
Upgrading armor is pretty worthless, but you might as well when you're at a point where you have nothing else to upgrade. I'm surprised you say Adjudicator is cheap. I went in blind and beat him first try without getting hit at all... of course I had a bow.

Yeah I was thinking about that myself. When he devours someone, is he gaining their knowledge or atleast dreaming about their thoughts? Of course, if Ariamis and Anor Londo did merge, then where did Priscilla go after that? Maybe killing her was canon? That would be strange though since killed Gwyndolin was not canon.

well, you're wrong. he didn't dream of the scythe, he dreamt of a young, pale girl in hiding, which could be yorshka or priscilla. assuming your theory that the scythe would just pop into existence in front of him when he had a thought about it is true, if the young pale girl refers to yorshka, how he could have acquired the scythe is left unexplained. it also says nothing about what actually happened after he dreamt of the girl (it could have been that he dreamt of her just prior to the player arriving, as he is still in the process of devouring gwyndolin, and it seems like he was probably acquiring gwyndolin's memories during that process)
Lifehunt Scythe is a spell you get from turning in Aldrich's soul. It's not an item. He didn't actually get the scythe. He passively created a spell that resembled it by dreaming. So it "popping into existence" isn't a problem. Priscilla is a pale young girl and she was in hiding (hidden away by Gwyn). I can understand the idea that that description could mean multiple people. However, it's literally the description found on the Lifehunt Scythe. That alone makes it pretty obvious its describing Priscilla.

Also THEORY: Aldrich somehow entered Anor Londo via the painted world (Yorshka says the tower hasn't been turned in a long time) and also devoured priscilla. Aldrich uses a scythe attack and you also get the Lifehunt Scythe, Priscilla's signature weapon, from his soul.
I don't think so. I mean, he was sleeping in his coffin in the Cathedral of the Deep, then went to Anor Londo. I don't see why he would have had to go into and out of the painting to get there. We also never see the painting. The tower not being turned is odd though. The reason he has Priscilla's scythe is because he dreamt of it. If you read the item description it says so. I also personally subscribe to the theory that Anor Londo and the painted world merged at some point. That's why its so snowy and that's why Irithyll exists. Btw I think Wolnir probably tried to become some kind of replacement for Nito but fucked up somewhere along the way and got swallowed by the abyss
Wolnir was a conquerer that killed kings, took their crowns and merged them into one. Then he tried to invade New Londo and underestimated the abyss. As he was being swallowed by the abyss he prayed to the gods that he would be saved. They gave him three bracelets and a sword that would protect him from the abyss. Which is why when you find him, you only fight the top half of him. The bottom half is in the abyss. And when you defeat him, you're not killing him, you're destroying his protection from the abyss. That's why his death animation is him being dragged into the abyss. I fucking love that lore.
