Trying to come up with a name for the program i'm working on is making my head hurt.
It's a (hopefully) cross platform pixel art editor, which can also be used to edit tilemaps

Nugsy Pixel Editor

I tested it! Here's what I thought:

Art: Not usually the style I like, but for some reason it worked really well for this game! I liked it! One glitch I found though was one of the trees wasn't together correctly. The top half was jittering above the bottom half.
Gameplay: Fun, easy and unique!
Music: Great, except I'm not sure they loop correctly. During the "Shadow Minion" scene, the music suddenly stopped and then started over.
Story: It was awesome! It kept me interested, and I actually liked it so much that I stopped playing immediately after the Shadow minion scene simply because I didn't want to spoil it for when I play the finished product! Also, the humor was perfect. I loved that all of the minions you talk to die, even when they sound fine.

Can't wait for the full game! :D

I'll test the demo and let you know what I think. (tomorrow)

Is this game going to be free or commercial? I would totally pay you for it.

The developer gets nothing!? Really? That doesn't make sense  WTF

Yeah, on Amazon App Store, if they agree to have their app put on the "free app of the day" thing, then it's free and they don't get any money from Amazon for it, despite Amazon claiming they pay the developers a portion of the original selling price. I agree that this is kinda messed up, but developers do have to agree to it, so it's their choice to take the messed up deal.

Most of them you should be able to run with virtualized 95 without performance loss with modern pcs. I have played some of my childhood's games that way.
You mean using a virtual box? Yeah... I could I suppose. In fact I might. I don't know why I hadn't thought of that already. Thanks!

I don't miss DOS, because DOSbox exists. What I miss are PC games from the Window 95 era. Most of them are not patched nowadays so they're not compatible with Windows 7.

I love this whole concept, the combining of things, the narrative, the visuals! Can't wait for the finished project! If you need beta testers, then count me in!

Although I'm sure they could use some work (like texturing the background), I really love the concept of how it looks.

I'll put it in the to-do list. Wink

If you're successful then you should name it: "Mindfuck: The Image Editor IN 3D"
P.S. Sorry I don't have any helpful suggestions, haha.

I want the image editor to draw things itself.

The game is light RPG where little girl from assassin/fighter family sets on journey to her grandma's cottage collecting on the way things for potion for the grandma who is sick/weak. She encounters many weird monsters on the way and fights against them with deck of different weapon, shield etc. cards. Style is comical, little like Mother series.

"Vaccine Venture"

If it were an action movie with the same plot I'd say, "Prescription for Pain!"

If you run 64bit then make sure you have the 64bit version of Java. Otherwise you'll get "out of memory" errors and the game will run really slow. Java's website does an automatic check of your version of Java, but for some reason even if you have 64bit it gives you the 32bit version. Here's a link to the 64bit version: http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=49026

Even more help would be to download the HD Texture pack fixer. It patched the minecraft jar to enable support for higher textures, but when using it if you go into options, you can increase your memory. If you have 64bit then you just go to the options of the HD patcher and double the number. Mine is 2048 now. Here's the link - http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/232701-611-update173-compatible-mcpatcher-hd-fix-210-02/

Minecraft was running a bit slow for me too and those two things fixed it. In fact, now I run Minecraft using a 256x256 texture pack and it looks and runs just great with view distance on full.

Now, if you just have a crappy computer, then none of that will help. Sorry if this shouldn't be posted in this thread. Just trying to help people who are having problems. Smiley

I haven't played Hammerfight or Cogs yet, but I've played Crayon Physics and AYIM. Crayon Physics was okay. It was a kickass concept and it's cool to do it, but I ended up getting bored pretty fast. AYIM has amazing visuals, in my opinion, and the concept is really neat, but I also great bored of it pretty fast.

Also, I've beaten VVVVVV about ten times in the last year or so, but it never gets old for some reason.

trust me, the girl that is for you, is and always will be for you.

No. Just.. no.

People change over time. You change, they change. Someone who is right now may not be right in the future. Even if you are together for years, there may come a time where you will be better off to go your separate ways.

And this is good news, btw!
There are lots and lots of people out there with which you can have amazing experiences with.

I concur wholeheartedly.
798  Community / Creative / Re: What percent % of each day is spent working on "your project(s)" on: July 27, 2011, 09:06:38 AM
It's hard for me to estimate, both because I tend to multitask and that I don't really have a  routine for working on my projects. Does thinking about design/content qualify? Even if I do that whilst doing other things?
If that does count then I'm ALWAYS working.

I think "Zero-G Heroes" has a nice ring to it.

That and BattleBum are both awesome names. Good job, dude.
