That trailer is amazing. Best trailer so far (in a cheesy way, of course).

In Demon Souls I have now beaten Flamelurker. I got naked, thief ring, flame resist ring, purple flame shield and a white bow. Kept running around the arena behind pillars until he lost track of me, then shot a couple arrows at him. At 25% he was too aggressive for this to work reliably so once he lost track of me I switch to full armor and my katana then took him on close range. It was pretty damn close at times, but I beat him. I've also beaten the two gargoyles and the old hero now.

True! I should try that.

I think having to find and use weapons I would never otherwise use just to beat this boss is lame, so I'm trying to not to resort to that. I figure I'll do some other stuff first instead. I went to 4-2 and farmed the grim reaper for a bit (5k souls for about 15 seconds of work). Got my stats up a bit. Next I'm gonna do 3-2 and 5-2. I'm not liking the enemy placements in 4-2. After the grim reaper I mean it's pretty annoying having mantas shooting tails at you while you have to take on multiple big guys at once on a narrow pathway. Also, just about the only thing that's been spoiled for me so far is that you can beat the storm king much easier with some storm sword. Not sure where you find that and not sure if he's the next boss in that area. (Don't tell me though!) I'm thinking once I've done a few more areas, I can come back and whoop Flamelurker's ass. I'll have better fire resistance, defense, attack and equipment by then.

Yeah I'll just ignore tendency for this run.

Flamelurker, if I roll right or left, he usually gets me because he does an AoE. I don't think I've ever successfully rolled through the AoE (not even quite sure if rolling through attacks works the same in this game or not). So I always have to roll away. The arena is littered with obstacles and pillars that fuck up my camera and get my character stuck. Plus, rolling away from him I have about a millisecond to get back in and attack before he starts up a new attack. And I can only do that every couple attacks to maintain stamina. I got him down to 15% on my first try by using a bow and running away constantly, then he got me stuck on a rock and murdered me. Can't keep spending hundreds of arrows then dying. Tried to glitch him into the dragon spine, but he just kept running around in no problem.

So I'd want to die as little as possible to get it pure white, get everything, then die a bunch on purpose to get it pure black? Isn't that all pretty fucked up? I mean, you die so the game says, "This isn't hard enough, let's make it harder." Having lots of fun though so far.

Two negative notes:
1. Lack of boss shortcuts is ridiculously bad. I don't want to run through the whole goddamn level to get back to the boss. The level design is great, but needs more shortcuts.
2. Flamelurker is awful. Not because he's hard, but because he's insanely unfair against melee.

Yeah, I'm REALLY confused about world tendency. I mean I know what character tendency is. That's pretty simple... but what changes world tendency? What should I want it to be? I'm trying to look up as little as possible for this blind playthrough, but this is something I'm gonna have to look at a guide for.

There's something kind of mystical or surreal to Demons Souls that the other games don't really go for. Not sure precisely what, but just thinking about it now New Londo in DkS1 reminds me of Demons Souls alot.

I think there's just a lot more darkness in Demon Souls, which is similar to New Londo, for sure. I feel like the level design in Demon Souls may be the best in the series. General enemy design is good. Boss design is hit or miss. I loved the Armor Spider, but hated Adjucator (easy but boring). The combat feels about the same as Dark Souls 1. One big minus for me is that the lore in Demon Souls seems pretty nonexistent. I mean there's the story and backstory, but the world doesn't seem nearly as fleshed out as Dark Souls or Bloodborne. Overall, at this point I'd say Bloodborne is the best still while DkS1 and DeS are about as good as each other. Just different... and of course DkS2 is last place.

I think there's still a lot of mystery to people who have never played the games. I didn't actually really start playing soulsborne until Dark Souls 1 about 6 months ago. I heard all about the series. A bunch of my friends play them. But when playing it I still had no idea what was going on and thought it was just a normal western rpg. It's just a first time experience only, unfortunately.

A few hours into Demon Souls now. So far I'd say it's better than DS2, but I still like DS1 and Bloodborne way more. I really love the level design. Top notch. Don't understand world tendency yet. I'm having way too much fun just because this is my first time going in completely blind. That said, it does seem a little too easy sometimes but I think that's mostly because I'm really experienced in the series now. I've only had to look up one thing so far and that was where the fucking monumental was. Crowded in with a million other dead monumentals... genius.

Tonight I am finally going to start a Demon Souls playthrough for the first time. It's the only game I'll be going into completely blind (besides Dark Souls 3 when it comes out).

I emailed him before his edit giving him the benefit of the doubt. He was asking for an expert. I gave him my portfolio and he said I must be too expensive. That's when he edited that he only needs someone decent. I told him my prices are fair and negotiable and asked him for more information about the project like how long development would be, what kind of game is it, etc. He said, "Just programming... how much will it cost?" Fed up, I just said a million dollars.

He said, "oh my god....lawl hahahahahh Nice Donald Trump reference you got there...i wanna make a trippy platformer game so i can join the 420 mountain dew army"

Trust me, he's either trolling or completely delusional. Either way, I wouldn't recommend working with him.

I'm 99% sure based on everything I've seen that DS3 has a mixed world. There's a hub and many times you warp to areas, but I think a lot of areas will have multiple large areas intertwined.
93  Player / Games / Re: Dark Souls and Bloodborne on: March 23, 2016, 01:21:26 PM
It spoils a lot of boss fights that looks insanely badass and a couple cool scenes and areas.

Here's a link though:

Yeah, that trailer blew my mind. I can't wait.

What CAN you afford?

I wouldn't really bother. I'm pretty sure he's trolling. Not sure why.
96  Player / Games / Re: Dark Souls and Bloodborne on: March 21, 2016, 03:07:51 PM
Yeah, I really prefer how Dark Souls 2 does it where you have to attack an NPC many times before he starts getting mad. Of course, it doesn't make as much sense.

unrelated: i didnt realize i hadnt played through the DkS "Artorias of the Abyss" dlc. doing that right now and its a bit wonky as dlc is, but pretty impressive. im not keen on the regular enemy design, but level design and architecture of the oolicle township area / abyss is really really fantastic, as is the narrative and lore content and the Sif / Artorias / Ciaran stuff is especially good. Also the guardian chimera boss fight at the beginning might be my favorite fight in the game, as strange as that sounds.

Yeah, I think the enemies are okay, the areas are okay, but the bosses are amazing. Artorias is my second favorite boss fight in the series. (First is Ludwig, third is Maria.)

Replaying Bloodborne with my brother. Just beat Ludwig again. It is by far the most amazing boss fight I've ever experienced, even the second time. I get frisson when he goes into his second phase and the music swells.

I'm really tempted to buy PS4 just for Bloodborne but maybe I should get a new mobile phone first since my current one is a bit buggy. Though I want Bloodborne...  Cry

I lost my cell phone a month ago and have barely noticed the difference. Get Bloodborne. Tongue
99  Player / Games / Re: Dark Souls and Bloodborne on: March 16, 2016, 11:32:43 AM
lmao really? I never thought of that. We'd just bundle them up outside a little tunnel and poke em with heide spears. Soul Greatsword works pretty well too o.o

Yeah, if you're holding a torch they climb out of the caves like "You walked into the wrong neighborhood mothafucka" then they see you're torch and they flip their shit. "It wasn't what it was, it wasn't what it was!" It's amazing.
100  Player / Games / Re: Dark Souls and Bloodborne on: March 16, 2016, 02:18:09 AM
The spiders? Nah, just hold a torch and they run away from you. It's kind of hilarious actually. The whole area is ridiculously easy because of that.
