Fifth, strikes me as odd that they're doing it considering this: Too much for me. Several people I know have been raped, so I wouldn't want to play a game where you beat and then rape women, and I personally don't think other people should play games like this either.
From the discussion about FarmerGnome's Edmund. Blast from the past sort of but still, odd that cactus would be behind something like this. i forgot about that, wonder what made him change his mind

yeah this scene is really a good exploration of the impact of rape, you're totally right
it's incredible that so many people are offended by a scene included in the game solely for the purpose of offending people

to say pixel gore and a rape scene are equally horrible is insane.
pixel gore is nothing like watching real gore. watching a video of a real human die is totally and completely different from watching some caricature of a human get his pixelized brains blown out. the characters aren't built in a way that is conducive towards you empathizing with them. they're barely even shown as humans. they're drones made up of meat bits. the one scene from american history x bothered me, and the camera cuts away before it even shows anything. watching a guy get stomped on in hotline miami doesn't. it should be pretty obvious why that would be the case to anyone with half a brain.
rape is mostly psychological. it's about the event, not the visuals.
mindless game violence is not even close to the same thing as showing a rape scene. so at best, the reasons for including the scene are horribly misguided, and at worst, it's just shock value trash.
