You should throw in some random grasses and flowers there, just to spice up the terrain for a little.

Have you tried of having the graphics at a 1x1 scale in .BMP format, and then scaled to 2x resolution when drawn?

To all.

In the picture a new version of the tiles - the top.

So, the problems:
1. New tiles degrade performance.
2. In the new tiles invested a lot of energy and therefore do not want to roll back to the old version.
3. New tiles do not look perfectly like the old.
4. New tileset will cut a couple of weeks and even months. All this time will not the other news about the game.
5. I do not know what to do with all this ... What do you suggest?

1. How does this degrade performance?
4. From now on, you should use the new tileset. After you're done with the main part of the game, go back and convert to the new tileset.

OR you could have a new or old tileset option, so the user can decide which to use.

It looks a lot better! I like the lower quality version a lot.
I do not quite understand: of these two options you like a lower version?

Then I should not draw a new graphics.  Smiley

By the lower quality, I meant the one with less pixels.

I'm sure this'll sound dumb if that, but have you consider have "sewers"? Just a few holes that lead to another z-level of blocks with a labyrinth type structure.

Will Kurt ever make a game that isn't in the form of ASCII art?

Tune in at 11 to find out.

Yes, the scaled tiles look a lot better.

Another build! Exciting. You can press F1 to change your character from a smiley to an '@' and press 'M' to toggle music.

I don't know why I added these floating squares before. I also don't know why I called them orbs. They're not even round.  Undecided

So, what is the game about?

finding your way through this strange world of colors, there are no mandatory goals, and you can explore the world if you choose to do so

What are the mechanics?

the game will basically be an interactive poem, (almost) every decision you make will change the story

it's difficult to explain without showing

joke's on you, i'm blind

Made it so some walls have "vines" on them. (They don't look like vines.) Also, ground tiles look better.

I also added lamps that light up random parts of the room and spikes that send you back to the start. Those only appear in groups of 1 - 2 and in rooms 7 and up.
