Basically a multiple jobs system?

Eh, not really. Each character will have certain weapon types that they'll perform better with, but you can essentially (and with the right equips) teach any character anything and have them equip whatever you'd like them to equip.

This sounds interesting, but a bit less interesting since the Pokemon IP is just kind of tossed in there for no reason.

But it's your guys game, run with it.

On the contrary, Pokemon has been part of the entire concept since day 1. It's a major part of pretty much every aspect of the game.

We have gotten similar comments before, that we could really take this places if it weren't Pokemon, but it's been a Pokemon game since its conception, and we'd like to keep it that way. Not to mention that some of the staff would likely leave if we started changing everything about the game over a year and a half since we started it.

will each weapon and armor be able to get attacks themselves, like as separate abilities? so like that gyrados spear allowing whoever uses it to gain the ability to use fire blast?(i say fire blast because my red gyrados has it(i named him baron because i could(i give them all dumb names))
As you battle foes with your Pokequipment, it will gain experience and levels as in the normal games. As they gain levels, they'll gain new attacks just like they would in the normal games, and then your party members will be able to use those attacks in battle. Some attacks won't always be usable by every type of equipment (For example, a Steelix greatsword wouldn't be able to use Iron Defense).

Our equivalent of TMs will be in the game as well. HM's have been replaced in favor of special items that allow you to do what you'd normally do in game (i.e., cut down trees, surf across water, etc.). Said items will be able to teach their respective moves to your Pokequipment too if you're so inclined.

A long-overdue update with plenty of new stuff!

All this and more for viewing on our dA group page.

Also a bit of spritework done by our group.

Also, another sample on the music side of things.

Lavender Town

Lastly, we're down to one programmer now, and he's decided to switch from Game Maker to C++, so if you'd like to throw in your application and join our team, we'll gladly accept.

If you're not a programmer but you still want to join, go right ahead. More help is always welcome in all departments.

For your listening pleasure, a sample of music we've done for our game.

Most of it's been on the blog, if you've been keeping up with it, but most of the songs have been revamped a bit. So, even if you downloaded the songs from our blog, it's worth it to download them again here to get a slightly better version.

Pallet Town

Route 1

Viridian Forest

Welcome to the World of Pokemon

We hope you enjoy them.

Benevolent? Nintendo's public image is that they shut down any games that infringe their IP. If your game is successful and gets noticed then Nintendo will shut you down. Obviously if your game is bad and flops then they may not hear about it and they won't come after you. Kinda sucks having to hope your game is a flop.

Since when is that Nintendo's image?
I've never heard anything about Nintendo shutting down any fangames.
There's numerous Mario and Pokemon romhacks and original games, a handful of Pokemon MMO's, the 2D remakes of OoT and Metroid Prime, the translation of Mother 3...
None of which I've heard anything about being stopped because of Nintendo.

Square-Enix is the company that shuts down any unofficial project using their IP.

If we're not making money off it (and we don't plan to), then Nintendo's track record indicates that they won't care.

As far as we know, the fanart that inspired us was done by a guy named Nishihara Isao. He used to have a blog with the art on it, but it was deleted a while ago.

I suppose I should inroduce myself as well...
I'm JD, and I'm the lead composer for the team. Nice to meet you all.
