Been playing with Unity a bit. Have 2 ideas I would like to explore, but for starters I'm finding my way with the engine. It will probably be a slow progress, since I have a lot to attain to in real life, but here is a quick update.

I'll just leave this here. If I can man up, I might finish it.  Gentleman

Talking about linux, finally decided to upgrade my old laptop from Debian squeeze to the wheezy. Going to make the switch from XNA and c# to Mono and Monogame. Mostly for saving energy (and thus money), since the laptop uses a whole lot less of it compared to my pc. So I am happily installing it right now and to make it programmersrelated, I am doing it via pxe-boot, so I had to make a config file  Big Laff

SD Snatcher is a game you just have to play at least once!
All the nemesis games, but especially Space Mambow and Salamander.
Xak, tower of gazzel.
Ys 1 and 2.
Firebird.

Think does are my favs but I also love all the simple konami games from that time (and there are heaps of them for the msx!)

Dutch here, seems fun hooking up, but only if you pay for your own expenses.  Beer!

Aww yeah, my front-end is starting to look good:

I have an old laptop lying around so I decided to turn it into an emulation station. I've tested all the major frontends on the interwebs and the best I could honestly find was XBMC with the Advanced Launcher plugin. Having the ability to grab screenshots and info automatically from gamefaqs, mameworld, mobygames, etc, is a godsend.
Here's what it looks like:

Sorry you took offence, personally I don't find that over the top, so unless someone with moddingrights/admin agrees with you, I'm not going to edit that out. If someone from TIG does think it is over the top, I will remove it. Nonetheless, I'm sorry you find this offensive as it in no way is meant offensive. I like French girls and their beautiful language  Tongue (it's the same when someone says all Dutch are cheap or all Dutch are pot-heads... It's just a little stereotyping, nothing personal and in good spirit.)

I like the 3-versions approach.
Make working but ugly prototype, discover things that need to be solved along the way, solve them like a French girl uses a razorblade under her arms. (badddd!)

Version 2, think about a better structure/flow. Make it, throw it away when you have a zillion options but left the main-feature out Tongue

Version 3, make it minimal, but beautiful and working! Concentrate on the real goal you are trying to achieve.

Smooth jazz. Nothing else, only smooth jazz.

How I would love to post a pic of what I just did.

Thanks guys! That's the sole reason for this devlog, to keep me going, because I tend to lose interest easily.

And since I needed a break, I've started on a tileset. I'm not a pixelartist and this if my first time drawing pixels, but I am pretty pleased with the first results.

Well, since I really could not figure out why my isometric mouse2world wasn't working I ditched everything and started again today. Isometric picking is now working and almost everything I had is build in again. 1 day setback, luckily everything is sort of plug and play, so most of the code I could just copy into the new project. Although I did make some changes here and there.
15  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Armillo "Developers not happy with this" Development Checkpoint Demo Released! on: October 10, 2012, 02:55:44 AM
I was looking forward to this one, I am cooking atm, but after dinner I will check it out! (download as we speak).

Lol  Cheesy

Have to say, I enjoyed it, only thing I would like to see changed is the keyboard settings. But hey, for a demo, who cares Smiley Nice work! Keeping my eye on this one.

Did someone say Linux? Can I do a apt-install? Tongue or a dpkg -i?  Well, hello there! Kiss

Since I was getting really tired trying to solve the part I messed up with the Isometric rendering, I wanted to know how many animated sprites I could have on the screen.

I stopped at 5000, since well... 5000 sprites ought to be enough for anyone  Cheesy

Thanks guys! I knew the trick with the colormap, but I can't use it because I am trying to build an universal engine. I might though if I can't fix this. I think the problem is in my draw function, because no matter what I do (like using these algo's 1:1) it doesn't work. Ah well, going to look into it, maybe rewrite the drawfunction, but first I need to do some other things in my app.

Thank you very much all. At least now I know my picking-code should be working and so it must be in the draw function where I am messing up.

Thanks!  Coffee

Yeah that's the goal, but I am having some trouble atm with the isometric part. Somewhere I have made error that I need to find and sort out, cause the mouse2world doesn't work as intended.
