AA will necessarily have the opposite effect that it's supposed to against some backgrounds (unless it's actual semitransparent pixels), so only do it if the sprite is only going to appear against very similar background colors throughout the game. In this case it doesn't work regardless because the antialiasing is only external, so the black lines appear jagged and broken. Either way I think the sprite is a bit too small for it to be effective. As for the left one I'm not sure what you intend with the double outline, the sprite would look better if you just removed it.

maybe I'm way out of touch with idiot Gamer Culture but I don't think people see specific seller of the games they play as some kind of exclusive investment the same way one might with a several hundred dollars piece of hardware. am I missing something?

I do agree the situation is way different today than when Steam was starting out. Epic will have to grow much faster than Steam did if they want to be competitive.
Steam already has a lot of players and their pokets. If Epic Store has few players, it's hard that the developers can make money there. even if the store will have only the 12% digital stores aren't consoles

Awesome! Video options are often lacking in pixel art games and it always makes me happy seeing people putting in that effort Would you also add the option for straight bilinear scaling? I personally think that's ugly but I know a few people prefer it for some reason

If I were aware of Monument Valley and then saw your game I'd 100% take it for a cheap attempt at cashing in on being mistakable for a better known product, and I don't think I'm alone in having that reaction, regardless of your intention. To avoid that I think you'd be better off trying to differentiate. Make it look like its own thing rather than an inferior copy.
