The only good such game is Warning Forever. Abstract graphics is the worst trend in in video games. I don't want to blow up neon triangles, I want to blow up spaceships!

Wanting to play with, expand on, improve on a concept is something to be ashamed of?
After the first platformer was made, there was no point in any more platformers being made?
Art is an originality contest?
What are you trying to say?

Well, the setting doesn't change the genre of the game so, no impact at all?
Or do you mean particular games? In that case I still think it has little impact. If the game is well made, I think fans of the genre will appreciate it regardless of setting (although it can add or detract from the enjoyment, it's probably unusual that it's a deal breaker for someone) A shmup about vikings appeals to shmup fans, not viking fans.

Awesome initiative! I've wanted a "freeware" filter on the indiegames.com blog, as I'm usually not interested in commercial releases, and you'll end up hearing about them anyway. A frequently updated site focusing only on freeware releases is something that has been missing for a while.
"free, where?" is pretty annoying. Just have it as FreeWhere or something.

how to stop catholic priests from raping children: kill the pope
how to end terrorism: kill osama bin ladin (they really should get on this one)
how to stop america from blowing up kids in drone strikes: kill barack obama
this is how to solve problems

I think maybe the fact that you are 31 years old and seriously seem to think that A few bullets in a few heads would be all it takes to fix all third world problems.

hahahaha
So suddenly you own the rights to every game idea ever. Genius!
brb writing a script that outputs a random string of bytes of random length (if something you made can be generated with my script you owe me 80% of your income and your dog)

People walk on asteroids without pressure suits in Star Wars, thus we can assume that in the Star Wars galaxy, there is in fact a medium in seemingly empty space through which sound can travel.
Your bungled attempts at making a dent in the Star Wars lore were fruitless this time.

I'll just quote myself from a similar thread on another forum: I first beat the original Legend of Zelda a few months ago, and had a great time with it. I really enjoyed how free and open it all felt. How where to go wasn't obvious. How I had to find so many things for myself with only vague hints (if that) to go on. How there's no set dungeon order you have to follow. A very genuine feeling of exploration and adventure.
I'd actually like to see more games where you initially don't have a clue what to do or where to go, and where things can be done "out of order". Figuring stuff out is fun!
I think one reason why nine year olds could beat it 25 years ago, and adults today get stuck after three dungeons, might be that the latter usually don't play it with the manual (that, and less free time, more distractions, etc). I'd recommend anyone playing The Legend of Zelda for the first time to refer to it. I found it to be entertaining and of great help.
