Legacy Of the Wizard. It's tops.
Ah ha, that one confounded me in my childhood. To this day, I've never reached any of the bosses! I should really revisit it sometime... I'm not nostalgic for it at all, it's still a great game and if it was good enough for kids in nineteen eighty seven then it's good enough for kids these days. You kid, you kid...

Whoever calls Super Metroid's control scheme convoluted is indeed spoiled.
I never had any problems whatsoever, even in my youth. I only had problems with the wall jump, but I had a lot of fun with the bombs. I adapted to the game, which I guess nowadays no one whants to do.
The controls are fine, the physics are fine. Why is it that everyone wants Super Mario physics in every single game out there?
I guess some people don't understand the game they so openly want to "correct".

Well, this was disheartening to read.
I wonder why ou chose to abandon the project instead of pushing it to the end on your free time, considering the colossal amount of time you spent the already.
A choice, possibly the hardest choice a passionate developer has to take was made and no one can criticise you.
Well, I'd like to read up on you and Tidepool one of these days.

I see. Though I think that these exaggerated expressions fits the exaggerated - SD / chibi proportions of the characters.
Ok, I can understand that. Though I don't really like chibi design, I can go with it. I have beaten FF9 and liked it very much, despite the character design. Carry on, brave soldier!

Half the fun was exploring and finding areas WAY HARDER than you should be in early then trying to get through it anyways There you have it. Nowadays that gameplay element is just slapped in the game's description and is presented as something exciting. Metroidvanias are games that need to click with you so you can put up with the sometimes necessary backtracking, and most of the times, in gamestoday, that is just used to addtime to the game counter, so you can say you spend a bunch of hours going back and forth...

For a project being developed by two guysof 17 and 18 with no experience, I'd say you are on the right track.

This game is looking very good, indeed. It gives a fairly strong vibe of Midgar, for better or worse.
Don't really like the crosses in the eyes of the dead/sleeping/frozen/knocked out guys, though...

People are pissed because it's not HL3. Any other except this one will make babies cry or something.
Honestly, I didn't find HL that revolutionary bac in the days, and HL2 was just ignored, so I don't really care what Valve releases, as long as it's good.
If it's another pay for win kind of game, stuff it. But surely there's a bit too many card games around, no?

i'm still considering to spend 359 bucks just to play zelda for some reason. it's sometimes hard to realize the investment this kind of stuff requires.
If the sole motivator to get the console would be that one game, forget it. I did that with the Wii.
