Hidden / Unpaid Work / Beta Tester

I'm interesting in getting into beta testing. Is anyone looking for someone to try out a demo? I'll write a detailed report. Been playing games for years now, and having gotten into development of games, games have become something that I analyze on a much deeper level now These can be completed games, or games in progress. Preferably people that would allow me to blog about my beta testing experience.

oh yeah, I just wanted to update this topic with some information that I posted on the Unity forum. hey, thanks . I'm still trying to get more people interested. I guess I'll just update this thread once in awhile, and start contact individuals that I know are working on games, and see if they're interested. Meanwhile I'm wrapping up the last couple of episodes on the media series that I'm been working on. It's nothing major, but a nice little side project to work on while other projects are moving slow.. People can check that out here if they'd like http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL64581B8ED48C1DB1&feature=view_allit's like a novel with sfx, and music I've done a little mag work before when I was into the music scene around here... Here's some samples I mean it wont be Gamer Plus, or what ever the heck those top notch gamer magz are called, but I'd love to put something together to promote on the side.. send me an e-mail with some photos, and a blurb on your projects, and I'll start putting it together

I'd like to make a game book/magazine for our site. Something for us to promote, and give to people. It's length will depend on amount of submissions. I'm going to collect information on a few different sites..here, mmf2 site, and probably unity site. Nothing major, and games only. I'm thinking pictures, and a bit of text from the games creator on the game. (pages will be black) All projects welcome. Projects don't have to be completed. It's more of a look at what indie game developers are up to. send an e-mail to [email protected] if you'd be interested in having your game placed in the collection would be best if you sent a few screen shots, and blurb on the game. I'm thinking it'll be a game or two per page..one game a page would be best. If you've got a blog article on gaming that you'd like to have posted in the mag I'll place articles up front, and then games. Also send any links to your websites/blogs, and I'll include them too the project will be a free download, but I'll have a donation option on the site as well. --- If interested check out the links in the signature too

Yeah, I'll be workin on it. Suppose I can only get better with practice. They are what they are though, not the best, not the worst. Lots of sites sell premium textures for a dollar or so a texture. For someone who can't make their own, and is working on some indie projects, or just wants to expand their assets. over 100 tiling textures for pretty well 5 cents a piece isn't too bad. People need to use discretion when shopping any place, and common sense. I'm not the best artist, and wont claim it, but there's samples here, so people can see some what of what can be done. If they want quality next gen graphics they have to go where they are, and pay what they cost but for anyone looking for textures cheap, that'll do the trick we got some Some have been sold and shipped, we're looking forward to, and hope to see more shoppers in the future

Now offering a buy one get one free deal. Buy the scenic texture pack, and get the gross texture pack completely free. Also buy one of the small packs, and get one of the other small packs free. See the bottom of the page for details.
Gross texture pack include hamburger texture, meat texture, burnt flesh, and other grunge textures great for indie game artists looking to expand their texture assets.

Should be good. I read the thread. The programmable missle video was pretty crazy. You shouldn't have any problems making it a successful game. Just as long as you have good grahic artists to go with all the ideas..shouldn't be a problem, lol

lol. You don't give up do ya. Okay this thread still stands for the purpose it was created.
but I would like to ask What could I possibly do for your game? What dev tools are you using, and what do you need other than drawn artwork, because I don't draw. What could I possibly do that would make me want to join your project, and gain from it?
Also for the purpose of this thread I was thinking more discussing classic rpg mixed with plat form action..true rpg..gaining exp, and levels, and not set in a future setting like metroid, lol.
I like you, lol..you have persistence, and dedication to your projects, but you should have some consideration for people starting threads, and the topics they were started for.
any way, I would like to hear it though.

Hey,
I was thinking of a game that might be cool. Maybe we could jam up some ideas here, and see if anyone would be interested. Right now I have a couple of projects, that are moving very slow, but it doesn't hurt to collab on some ideas, and see if anyone would be interested in making a game.
I think it would be cool to have a level based plat form game that has the speed of mario, but say that game meets like secret of mana for a little tango. It would be a game where sure you can try and jump through all the levels, but if you did that you would surely die, because you HAVE to kill some stuff to get experience, or your character will die fighting bosses, and stronger enemies later on.
Not much of story at all, but sounds like a cool idea?

It's hard for a programmer to recruit a team, haha. You might want to post some prior work, or start the game yourself to get people interested in what they see.
It took me 4-5 forums, and much thread tending to get my team together, but it's happening, lol.

oh, sorry, what I gathered from reading parts was that you were making a metroid clone, lol. Sorry about that. I've got a lot on the plate now though, and not being a graphical person I can't see myself being much use to you on your project, lol. I'll certainly read it though, and good luck with your work

We've been sampling and making tiling textures, ready for use in games. We also offer a custom texture extraction service. This should be great for those of you that want to increase your texture assets quickly, and for a low price. Currently offering a pack of rock, sand, earth, grass, skin, and metal textures. 127 textures, including variations. We also offer each individual pack. Omega DevHere's some landscapes that have been using the textures. (Terrains by Josh, the 3d modeler on the Omega 7 project) With 127 tiling textures they can easily be mixed, and matched, to make great terrains.

hmm..I haven't played a metroid game in over 10 years (nes or snes can't remember which), lol.
I don't think a team merger would be compatible at the moment. We make original games for commercial purposes on our site (teams per project). We have a 3d production under way with a team of about 8-10 at the moment, and working on a 2d production with another member of this site.
I'm building a business, and you're building a game. It's a clone game, not a bad idea, but I don't really see much compatibility there.
Sharing ideas of course is never a bad thing:) I'll stop by the thread, and give it a read.

Sounds interesting, but I don't do sprites. I'm a 2d games programmer, and have a 3d project underway with a dev team, and don't work outside the company I'm trying to build myself, lol...I like the idea though. If you haven't got a programmer and would like to take it to Omega Dev maybe we could work something out, lol...but this thread is for other things.

Josh our 3d modeler has revived the idea of keeping the game 3d. We've down-scaled our ideas a lot to make it more achievable for a small team. You can see the progress that we're making with the first map here. It's starting to look really nice http://omegadevelopment.myfreeforum.org/sutra234.php#234we're still interested in finding people to help. We need some extra modelers interested in the project, and would love to have concept artists that could draw reference images for Josh to model from. Pm or post here if anyone is interested. Thanks again, Jb.
