Maaaan I remember Space II and Space Impact on my mum's 3410. They were awesome, particularity Snake II. You're right, it's the best game ever, bar none.
...you know, I think she still has that phone somewhere.

I too am scared by the 'infinite black void'. I couldn't explore the 'interior heaven' in GTA:SA because it just weirded me out too much. Even just watching a video of it made me feel strange. I thought I was the only one Same thing with many glitches in 3D games.

Developer / Technical / Compression by means of a binary diff to a common file
|

This idea popped into my head while reading one of the many threads about compression. How about distributing 4MB files as a diff to D3DX9_40.dll? Or think of a deterministic algorithm that will result in the same large file each time, distributing a program that will create that file, and have the installer be a diff of that file (applied by another small EXE)? I know almost nothing about compression so let me know if I'm being stupid...

Developer / Business / Limited edition floppy disk version for point-and-clicks?
|
on: May 23, 2010, 09:55:04 AM

A modern point-and-click adventure game (think Blackwell Legacy or something like that), sans voice and with lower music quality, put on maybe 5 to 10 floppy disks and distributed in the classic big box, complete with huge manual. The price would have to be higher and many computers don't have floppy drives, but I'm sure you could get 100 classic adventure game geeks to buy it (I know I would, if I had a floppy reader)!
Is this the worst idea since Hiter's mum and dad got it on? Would YOU buy it?
I dunno if this belongs here, but putting it in General seemed a bit of a cop-out...

Developer / Art / Does suitable free software exist for this?
|

The bone movement is the thing I like best about Construct. I'm a shit animator, and a 2D bone system makes all the difference to me. But I now want to use AGS again, and the thought of hand animating everything gives me a headache. Since Construct obviously has no way to export animations (sort of using Fraps or something), I need something else. Apparently Anime Studio has this, but that costs money, and quite a bit at that. Basically, I'm looking for a standalone animation system that allows me to make a skeleton, attach images to each bone, animate it using keyframes, and export to individual images/strip/gif/whatever. I just can't find anything suitable Anyone know of anything appropriate?

No, nothing changes until the door opens at 100 keys. And even then, what's behind the door isn't really worth the effort.
