that dude did it all wrong tho. kickstarter i mean. i hope he tries again with better incentives and a lower goal. his incentives are *super* lame.
for ONE DOLLAR you get this: "If you leave your mailing address, I will send you an official sticker." first of all you shouldn't have a 1$ level. and then this...
for ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS you get THIS: "I will call you, and we will talk about the coolest things we saw that day."

we were lucky to have a LOT of people come together and give us schwag and download codes. and of course the GDC passes are what pushed us over our goal. but this guy isn't even offering copies of the movie once its done or anything close to that. indiemovie's incentives aren't CRAZY AMAZING, but they're honest. you do get something back. you get the dvd. or the limited edition dvd. or the limited edition dvd with a t-shirt.
OR, for 300$, you get your game trailer in the movie. so far they got 12 backers at that level. that's 3600$ right there. for 300$ a small studio could get good exposure worth a lot more than 300$. it's win-win, and seems to be working really well so far.
as opposed to a 1000$ phone call.
indiegame movie is about to go over this guy's goals even tho their goal was 7000$ lower. same thing happened with gamma. we asked for less money than we actually needed, expecting to get more than we asked.
it's kind of like a 9.99$ pricetag.
and paul, eat my balls.

the game IS grand theft horsie.
it follows the same structure as GTA game, just with a bit of a slower pace and more of an emphasis on exploration. its a rural open world, basically. you hunt, you camp, you do odd jobs and you ride your horse into town as slowly as you can, like the badass you are.

ubisoft was horrible in every way but it did show me the ropes. also thought me a lot about myself. how i hate to write documents (basically all you do as a designer at ubi) and how i was basically unemployable and had to start thinking of an escape strategy.

i went to a game school. one year intensive program. paid 16,000$, learned how to make stuff and put it in a pipeline. learned 3D, learned animation. wanted to learn design. did not learn design. got a job at ubisoft. learned design. would have not gotten a job at ubisoft without my 16,000$ piece of paper. met heather kelley at ubisoft. started kokoromi. got fired from ubisoft.
still paying back.
other than that i only have a high school education.

the jetpack recharge needs a recharge sound like shield does when it recharges. i need audio clue to know when i can fly off again.
