Thanks, your game looks great. How long have you been working on it (and have you done everything in it yourself)? Very MechWarrior.
Thanks! I have been working on it close to 2 years now. I do everything in my free time, because I have a fulltime job and a family (3 little girls!). This was my first project in unity, so I learned about a lot of things the hard way. A lot of it was networking related, because all the projectiles are physics controlled and the aiming of the MAV is physics controlled as well. (It's so recoil is accurately modeled). There is a serious lack of documentation and serious projects using Unity Networking, so I did everything a bit through trial and error. If you ever hit a road block, please hit me up! It's possible I hit the same one

If you are having any issues, please hit me up. I have been through what you are going through right now, so maybe I can help.
Hate to see you have to give up or make it more of a hobby.
[My project is M.A.V. and is has a lot of similar tech and designs to what you are doing. Only mine is mechs. But it's unity3d with physics and all that goodness.]

Been some time since my last update.
I am now on snapshot 0.5.10_6, here is a breakdown of the changes:
0.5.10_3 farther iterated on the multiplayer, adding in a lobby system and cleaning up bugs.
0.5.10_4 Added in the first implementation of Voice chat! You can now talk smack as you tear apart eachothers MAV's.
0.5.10_5 Fixed up some multiplayer UI issues and added the ability to mute players and see who is talking.
0.5.10_6 Added in automated error reporting, fixed up some critical single player bugs, fixed up some sound issues, and cleaned up a lot of log spam (for the error reporting).
I am working on fixing up some other bugs and trying to get to another stable release soon!

A new snapshot build is now live (0.5.10_2) which has a new backend for the multiplayer system. This is all to reduce the number of bugs that happen in certain situations and to improve the lag handling and response.
Also, all the new snapshot build use an new custom master server which allows more information about the game.

I tried to check out the latest alpha and it seems completely broken. I went to the arena, auto generated a mech yet clicking deploy did absolutely nothing, I couldn't exit the screen either. Retrying this a few times it then went to the world map, I selected an area to deploy to and it just stayed there at a black screen with some GUI elements left over from the map. i7 3770K, 7970 OC, Win 7 64bit, just got the latest version minutes ago.
Ok I was able to replicate what you did. You seem to have forgot to set the weapon setting. If you look at the boxes next to the weight number, one of them would have still been red. (The auto generate doesn't set this up for you). This is what prevented you from deploying with the deploy button. However, when you hit escape, this puts you at the world map, which you then deployed to, but you didn't have a valid build, so the game didn't spawn you. So, looks like a lack of UI feedback and a bug. Thanks for the report. Stuff like this is difficult for me to find, so I appreciate it. Expect a fix soon. In the mean time, make sure you setup your weapon settings!

Woo Already bought, ages ago (the dude who wondered about gamepad support AFTER buying!). I might not be remembering correctly, but I think that is actually what spawned the addition of the game pad support. Funny enough, the actual gameplay is much better with a gamepad now than it is with the keyboard and mouse!
