I am going to deal with my alcoholism. I am tired of wasting all my time and money doing nothing.

It is nice to know that Shaenon Garrity is at least making something now. Narbonic is seriously my favourite webcomic ever

I am sorry for everything you have had to go through as a transgender person. I really mean that.
125  Developer / Technical / Re: Modular game engines - Why don't they (seem to) exist? on: February 22, 2014, 04:46:51 PM
But yeah, I can see how challenging it could be to define a common interface for multiple modules of the same type. Consider D3D vs OGL vs Software. Pretty tough stuff, but Irrlicht does it.

This is the main problem I see, even if you could it would kill a lot of performance as components would need to be interfaced all the same instead of in a way that makes the most sense for that particular code. Much in the way that graphics libraries already trade some theoretical performance to make sure that the same game code can work on many graphics cards.

-it was a derogatory way of referring to transgender people, which Eva happens to be.

Damn, I honestly thought it was "just" an anti-semitic comment regarding circumcision.
Ah, I see where your coming from. Although to be honest the "Zionist Lizard" part sets off my Anti-Semitism sense far more than that would.

old men questions:

genital piercing is such a political issue nowadays?
what's "fedore slaying"?
what's a "punk spitter"?

-it was a derogatory way of referring to transgender people, which Eva happens to be.
-the stereotype of a white guy nerd often involves a fedora
-I have no fucking idea, might have something to do with the sad practice of spitting at punk bands, but honestly, I don't know

Well the whole stand your ground affair and the little innocent boy in the hoodie that was huge on tv and totally saddened the black community is saying poor and middle class white people also have a right to shot their nigger when they felt like it.

George Zimmerman is Latino... And part black...
The whole thing is a tragedy and he should absolutely be in prison, but come on man.

It's funny that DARK skin people have problem because europe emerge from teh DARK age

It's inaccurate to say that black people are prejudice, that is a thing of the past, what remain is VISIBLY DARK SKINNED people who are treat less than human, the more "Caucasian" (it's innacurate to say so but you get it, white people) you are the more well you are treat ... and that's like in a world where everyone are treat like shit but rich people

I totally agree that black people are in general treated worse than white people. But there needs to be a BIG emphasis on the economic thing. Rich people (usually white, but every once in a while a black guy too) can literally get away with murder in the USA
130  Player / General / Re: Social justice: the serious thread on: February 21, 2014, 06:32:44 PM
Well statistically, we know there is a bias against black people when it comes to the law in America. For example they do drugs at the same rates that white people do but are far more likely to get arrested for it.

That being said, things like those videos do basically nothing. People are correct that there will always to be to many variables to control. So if you don't believe that people are racially profiled you will always find discrepancies to point out.

It really frightens me for the future how much liberals (and for that matter, conservatives) are completely unaware of the echo chamber, yet get hostile to anyone who points out that all they are doing is preaching to the choir. This happens on basically every issue, for example different healthcare systems have huge economic advantages that should appeal to conservatives, but you wouldn't know it from listening to American liberals who only talk about things that appeal to liberals. Liberals have facts on their side in both cases, they should stick to them.

Last thing: calling somebody white isn't an argument.

Honestly? Being a white guy is awesome. There is so much stuff I have gotten away with because of it.

I want that last wip to be a game so badly
134  Community / DevLogs / Re: Screenshot Saturday on: February 20, 2014, 07:42:44 AM
Screenshot Saturday is a time honoured internet tradition, like rampant piracy or comparing the Nazis to things that have nothing to do with the Nazis. You can't just go fiddling around with it.

On a less douchebaggy note: game looks fun

I've been watching Nagi no Asukara. The story features an underwater village and it's portraited really good. The story was way too dramatic for me but I kept watching because of the amazing setting. The story gets better at episode 10, and I enjoy it more now.

That looks gorgeous, I am so going to download that once they fix the internet lines around here.

If you want to use Java I would really suggest Slick2D, it is simple enough for someone getting started.

Nice. It has a really modern Final Fantasyish vibe.

super princess peach is a good game
I never said it wasn't. I really like it honestly, it is one of my go to games when I need to rip some placeholder art for whatever reason. I was merely referencing the reaction it got, in that it pissed off a lot of female gamers (for reasons that I can somewhat understand).

I think that Tapper is a super underrated game, it is like my favourite classic arcade game.
