I found something awesome yesterday. There's a girl named Turið Torkilsdóttir on Facebook. One of the songs made by Týr carries this very name, so it was a funny discovery (I mean, it's a Faroese name, and there are only 80000 or so Faroese people).

Threads like these have seemed to work on different boards, and they're fun. Therefore, I thought I'd bring the concept here, as long as I'm allowed to.
What do we do? Well, many of us probably know more than one language. Often, many of these languages will be languages we practice, rather than mother tongues.
To get some practice, a thread like this can be very giving. I know it works for me.
So, how does it work? Well, you simply write something in a language you wish to practice. Write this in bold. Below, you write the English translation in normal font weight. This way, anybody can join in, even if they do not speak the same language as you. This is more or less a thread for discussions about just about anything, while practicing languages.
Any language you're practicing can be used, be it a real language spoken on Earth (or extinct) or a constructed language. Without further ado, allow me to start the thread:

I preferred the light ones in the first image, but when actually printed out, the dark ones look really nice, too. If people want to take notes, the light ones are obviously the only good ones, though. I think those are more stylish as well.

the seven/ampersand key is a fucking awful key to stop working on my only computer (a laptop, so pulling the key off isn't possible) for a programmer...
I had to program like that for a few days once (pipeline key was missing as well). I kept swapping between the one I had on the clipboard. So put your ampersand on the clipboard.

My dynamic_cast keeps failing and I don't know what to do. This is driving me crazy.
can you check the type with rtti? Even typeid fails... Which is fucking weird, because it (dynamic_cast) works just fine for a different object, created in the exact same way, but from a different class derived from the same class as the one it fails for. It works just fine to dynamic_cast my initial variable, but later calling it on a pointer fails. Dynamic_cast and typeid only work on classes that have or inherit virtual functions. Is that the problem? No. Like I said, it works for a different class derived from the same base class sharing the exact same conditions. All functions in the base class, including the destructor, are virtual. Are you trying to dynamic_cast a pointer? The only other thing I can think of is that you aren't dereferencing the pointer. Already tried that. I don't need to, though, since I'm fine off using it as a pointer, since I just need to call two member functions, which -> allows me to do just fine.

I've made two AnimatedImage classes for SFML. An old one a while ago, and a new one when the project was remade from scratch. It's not that hard; sf::Timer, sf::Image and sf::Sprite together provide you with all you need.
You can also set sub images of a single-image spritesheet to a sprite, can't remember how exactly but I know it can be done. Btw, Beware of the texture size. That's intrinsic to OpenGL. Dunno if it has been fixed, but I wrote a solution for it more than 1 year ago: http://www.sfml-dev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=807That's how my class works. The animated images are horizontal strips where each frame has the same size, and the right part of the image is displayed at the right moment.

I'd provide my class, but it depends on other classes of mine that depend on other custom classes and so on. I'm wrapping SFML since I don't want the game to depend on it. If you still think you're up to "cleaning" the class, though, just tell me, and I'll post it.

Second one definitely looks better. Though really, the only thing putting me off of the first one is the gray background.
Actually, it doesn't have a background. It is game maker default room back color. Since when is the default background in Game Maker not a background? I'd prefer the second one, but it would actually look nice if you made the border non-pixelated, since it's supposed to be a fake console.

Put my game framework in a new situation today, and found a bug that had not previously occurred. About fifty minutes later, I found a solution, which, as always, was a lot simpler than I thought it would be. It's fixed now, though, so I'm happy~
