I've published the tweaked/enhanced/fixed/enlarged new version of I wish I were the Moon, which I sent to the IGF: It features new endings, several all-around tweaks and a secret ending! You can play it here.

Bought it!
Only one question: I fear it's going to take ages to get home... and only if my country's customs doesn't chew it when it arrives.
Is there a digital access to the contents?

I think there's a big difference between many third world countries. There's a spectrum, but some are really really poor, and Argentina (for example) isn't as poor as, say, Togo.
I think of it this way: what's the average annual salary (in US dollars) of a country?
over $10,000: pretty much first world between $1,000 and $10,000: poor but not really poor under $1,000: really poor under $200: dirt poor
Most of the loans to people on that site are to "dirt poor" nations. In other words, we're loaning money to people who make only a few hundred dollars a year. If you're using the internet, chances are you or your parents make more than that a year.
I'm actually making 100 usd a year, so far (A Kongregate publication). So I guess I'm around shit poor on that list . But of course I'm not serious, I live on savings from working previously. Of course I'm not poor (nor wealthy) myself. Most of my country is, though. I just find funny the "third world" classification. The concept of that site is very clever, though personally, I would not get involved in it.

So we need some IGF alternative then?
I don't think that an institutional replacement is needed... the IGF still hadn't made a bad move. I think we're discussing mostly the *potential* of something bad happening. Of course, more contests are never a bad thing

Well, I entered a revised version of "I Wish I were the Moon".
I was really hot on a new game, but I know I need a couple of months to sort it out the way I want it. Next time, I guess.

Look at it this way: $20,000 is considerably more valuable to a tiny self-funded indie team than to a company that's funded by Sony.
That's sort of a good point... the prizes actually tell what kind of teams are expected to win... Maybe the cash prizes are remnants of the original IGFs, and maybe they will go away as the target of the contest shifts away from the "indies as self-funded devs" concept.

If my game wins something, I'll agree with PixelJunk Eden being in the IGF. But if I lose, I will think I've been cheated by Sony. I also know where some of the judges live.
That's because I'm so indie, I'm the only indie.
But if you ask me to be reasonable instead of indie, then I think it all depends on what the objectives of the IGF are. If it's about showing how spectacular games are to boost the public perception of indie games, there might be a problem, since corporate-funded games tend to err on the spectacular side at the expense of everything else.
But if the objective of the IGF is to show different games, done differently, it doesn't matter which ones enter, as the judges will be picked in order to weed them out.
Bottom line, I think it all depends on how the contest is implemented. Undoubtedly, the IGF holds an enormous amount of power over what is considered indie or not by everybody, and I certainly hope it doesn't slide into the dark side.

I WILL, too.
IF I'm allowed to submit a completely broken, filled-with-holes game, and give me two or three weeks to patch and complete the missing parts.
Good thing I'm doing tiny, minimal games.

You know, even though there is room for improvement on this game, I am starting to believe that it's not a prototype anymore. The "length" could be enlarged for sure, and I've been requested to make it longer a lot. However, I am not sure whether it's because the game is insufficient in its exploration, or we are conditioned to believe that games should wear us off to a certain point before we consider them worthwhile...
Have you considered adding small animations to each of the frames (also sound effects, maybe background music depending on which frame your cursor was over)? Even just to have transitions between the various states. I think that might increase the feeling of interactivity. I'd be happy if you worked on a few other, new vignettes, as much as if you worked on expanding this one. Hi Increpare I considered and had more animation frames, but in the end I discarded them, as I was trying to keep thing as clean as possible. The rule I had for animations were: "Add a frame if and only if it is needed to convey something". I consider transitions usually unnecessary, especially on a static scene. I will consider sounds for my next game, though. I will work on another vignette... though the gameplay is going to be slightly different. I will only have 5 days before the IGF deadline, but I will submit something on the same vein .

Very interesting idea.
Since this is just a prototype I'll assume that the real thing will have a lot more options, which would make it so much better.

Hi TIGSourcers! This is my first time asking for feedback/sharing with the community: You are presented with a timeline, split into vignettes. It’s an interactive story about three characters and their choices in life in the context of a fairy tale. You can move them around in their vignettes to change their roles and what they do about it. Play itThere are a couple of known, minor bugs and the minimalistic approach to the aesthetic is done on purpose. I don't plan to try to sell this game to anyone. My goal is to provide an interesting gameplay experience that lasts only a minute or so. So the feedback I'm asking for is: what do you think of the concept? Do you find the game plain boring? What do you think of games that are only a minute long? Be as harsh as you need to. Daniel.
