Lost my keys.  That's okay I'll just go to Start-> Search...

...Fuck.
you use a binary search across the house until you find it.

But, but, how do you sort an entire house?  Shocked

There is actually some tiger sauce in my house AS WE SPEAK.
...Dare I take a picture? Tiger

you, sir, are a true indie.

Wrote the beginnings of a new character controller rig for my engine. Pretty darn stable so far...

...you regularly Linux.

...you use Linux as a verb
145  Player / General / Re: What do you do in your down time? on: February 27, 2011, 04:51:55 PM
Developing mostly, right now I have sooo sooo much I want to do and very little time thanks to school...

I've never had a virus out of irresponsible browsing or whatever, but a ways back I had conficker get onto a zip drive from a school computer and spread to my PC, that was not fun...

And yeah, Norton is gross, use MS's security essentials or whatever. Or better yet, Linux Tongue
147  Developer / Technical / Re: Writing Unit Tests for games? on: February 25, 2011, 10:21:12 PM
I just started using boost's unit testing framework thing, and it seems like it'll be helpful...

Learning to use Blender. Angry

(I've never used any 3D modeling program before, though.)

It's probably easier if you haven't got any habits developed from other programs, it seems pretty different from the commercial alternatives (I tried and hated Maya since I was so used to how blender works...).

by the sound of the video, he's not really sure where its going himself.. wants to rely on user input.

This is a big part of why I don't see it getting too far, without a central focus he's just gonna end up making a big long list of features without much direction... I guess it might work out for a sandbox-y game, but I don't see a very cohesive/playable game coming of it...

TIGSource is a bunch of psychotics (some of whom are really good at what they do)

I don't want to brag, but my doctor tells me I'm an excellent psychotic...

Completely overhauled my physics wrapper/subsystem thing, and it went flawlessly. No flashy new features or anything, but a nice long coding spree with a solid result and no debugging headaches makes me a very happy programmer...

You google "std list" for reference purposes, and fail to notice the alternate meaning and the extra search results...
153  Developer / Technical / Re: C/C++ Dynamic Class Instances? on: February 24, 2011, 07:22:35 PM
Doesn't calling erase on a std::vector call the objects destructor automatically?

Not if it's dynamically allocated...

Well, I saw

, and I'm beginning to think it really isn't a joke, as that guy has access to the development build.

I think XNA must let you share builds (the interviewer guy was playing it...) but that guy talks as though he's involved towards the end...

I dunno, I think it looks ugly and clunky as heck, but no one's directly infringing on anything, so I'm not gonna get worked up over it. It'll probably burn out once the hype wears off.

Mixing Minecraft with Worms Armageddeon-style gameplay and a phase where you build your protective forts out of 3D Tetris blocks that fall from the sky could be a pretty cool game.

That's pretty much what my Versus game was gonna be... then I got sidetracked with cool technical stuff...

You might be programmer if...
But Tails said it was written in binary, and that's hex! Sonic Colors lied to me Mock Anger

*Every game you play you wonder how they programmed it and in what language

For a while I was really into fancy lighting shaders and stuff, and for every game I'd see, I'd intently study the shadow techniques and such, and try to guess how they handled multiple lights of various types and what kind of filtering they used etc... (this resulted in many deaths in multiplayer games...).

Even now I pay a lot of attention to how light and shadow act in real life...

Someone make a game with cubic environments and cel-shading.

It actually doesn't look too bad... Shrug
(sort of a crappy shader, but I had it lying around...)

As I said in the Minecraft thread, I'm looking forward to someone taking the idea a step further. From what I've seen of this clone, however, it is exactly like Minecraft and offers absolutely nothing new, except maybe fancier graphics. I can't imagine this game going very far.

Speaking of, as I said in the Minecraft thread, I'm playing with a Minecraftian-style rendering system myself for the challenge of it... but I just had a total eureka moment and am frantically scrawling down notes and diagrams for an idea that uses the tech in an interesting (and totally non-Minecraft/survival/whatever) way... if it pans out maybe I'll have a prototype in a couple weeks...
160  Player / General / Re: Something you JUST did thread on: February 23, 2011, 11:35:01 AM
I suspect very few people here have actually played it...

I haven't... Shrug

I have some free time today though, maybe I'll give it a go...

EDIT Also: I just tried a "Full Throttle" energy drink... and it kinda tastes like crap... NOS seems to be the only kind I almost like the taste of...
