It is a shame about 8bc. Allot of older members got put off by all the drama and people reposting memes. I had stuff on there that i dont have a copy of anymore so if anyone happens to have all of the big-chip tracks that were on there or knows where i can download them again let me know please.
At college we learnt pascal and delphi. They also made us print all our pascal code off on a dot matrix printer so you had it all on one long bit of paper. That was about 10 years ago.
I dont think pascal is much cop now but it is a pretty good first language to learn as its easy and introduces you to the concepts.
Not that long ago me and a co worker were questioning why they still teach a fairly old language, but then a couple of days later i ended up having to write something in BASIC so i guess nothing is redundant really.
I made some text adventure for the amstrad cpc464 when i was 10 ish. It was full of bad spelling and only used if's and goto's. The only commands you could input were yes and no so it was quite linear. I dont remember it well but follows an example of what it may have been like.
Do you want to go noth? :no Do you want to go south? :yes There is a troll. Do you want to fite it?
I just fixed a bug where the player would respawn in the correct place and then sometimes, not every time but sometimes, disappear and reappear in some random space.
Was looking for it for ages last night and today i find it in about 5 seconds.
I have been making chip music and programming for fun for some time making indie games seemed like the logical next step being that i could combine both. Im pretty much making games for my own entertainment and hopefully the entertainment of others too. hopefully i can contribute as much to this community as i can get from it.
