Undertale has similar concept that I had with my Scrapped action rpg project.. You can play the game with Three routes... One route leads you to be bad  guy and second route would made you good guy and third one was neutral....I tried scrap every typical jrpg thing and make something fresh......Sadly the game was too big for me to handle alone but it was one of my dream game....



The battle system was fresh and unique but I personally didn't like it that much.... I liked that there was choices but the bulled thing just killed it for me.. Very repetitive with lots of variety of dodging things.. Mario&Luigi battle system mixed with "ACT" and "Mercy" would be much better...

Those look really great, beetle. My only concern would be the readability of any sprites done in that manner - it's pretty similar in contrast/brightness, no outlines, same shading style etc

I totally agree.. That one thing that has been bothering me with these sprites. If i made them more brighter it might read much better.

I'm in love with this, seriously. Smooth colors, but crisp details, all in a god way.

Are these for a real game? I'd play it just to see this kind of rendering!


Me and my Bro are making 2D Action adventure game with unity... Actually Im very amateur at  animating and creating enemy anatomy..  My cluster might be reason why they look decent..

Very quick water concept... Purple fits very well with the theme.. Bubbles and metroid like water effect might fitting as well..

The point of retro is to mimic an aesthetic, shovel knight gets it the best and most indies imitate it to certain degrees of success, intentionally or not. Also, nostalgia and references.

Sad Pixel art is one of my long time hobby and If I make game.. People might think that Im trying to make it for sake of retroness.. Even thought I would make it because Im poor & Im pixel artist and I love games..

Working on action adventure game with mah bro.. I just hope it does not turns be like Super metroid. 99% game mechanism needs to be original.. Maybe the 1% should be inspired by Super metroid map design..


Prototype monster for testing purpose.. 4 frames... This sprites does not need to be perfect.. not yet..
