Good times.

@avgudar: We're looking into that. The problem is it only seems to be an issue for people on certain systems (most likely related to your graphics card), and we haven't been able to isolate the cause yet. It's very frustrating. I will change some things in level transitions to see if that might solve the issue, but I'm practically working in the dark as I can't tell if my fixes will work or not.

@rob: Me and Dennis are looking into releasing Akuchizoku in one form or another somehow. It was never fully completed, I made the wrong decision in trying to make the levels very different from each other. It made the game feel disjointed and I lost interest in working on it. If we do a remake we'll base it on the first level and keep the rest of the game in a similar vein. Would be fun to work on a shmup again.

Life/Death/Island is on hold for now. No one seemed to like the demos we showed much, and me and Dennis don't really enjoy the gameplay the way we made it anyways. We will consider re-designing the basic combat and level generation a bit to make it actually play well. But right now we have more interesting ideas to focus on. It feels like a waste to just let it go completely, though. So hopefully it will be released eventually.

9/10 from Edge Epileptic Was not expecting that.

Getting pumped to work on something new, but there's still stuff left to do with Hotline, apparently. Hoping me and Dennis can start setting up the engine for our next game before the month is over. Would also love to release Tuning before new years.

Also want to do a write up about Hotline Miami as I haven't really had a chance to discuss it with anyone but Dennis, but I'm not sure how much I would want to reveal about it. Some things are best kept secret, and I don't want to spell out the story for anyone as it's much more interesting if people get to make their own interpretations of it.

He posted the same article on Giant Bomb, love the response:

Haven't seen that many positive comments about the game anywhere else. People are referencing everything from Robocop to Cronenberg and Lynch in defense of the game. I couldn't be happier Coffee

@fecal_brunch: Which version did you get? There's different solutions for the GOG version and the Steam version...

Try reinstalling and rebooting your computer...
Hope we didn't fix the game for some and broke it for others Facepalm

Big thanks for the positive comments! So glad people are enjoying the game. So very glad!

I have noticed a few bugs, like I occasionally accidentally create a second player, which is really weird.  I assume always getting zero flexibility is also a bug?
Can you tell me where and when it happened? Trying to isolate the bug but no one so far has mentioned location or situations where it popped up... Haven't seen it myself so I have no idea where to look.

Thanks guys! I'm so glad and relieved people seem to like the game! Coffee
Got two 10/10 reviews so far, which is really amazing.

I was really scared at launch because there were a ton of last minute errors popping up because I got the brilliant idea of trying to add Xbox control support 12 hours before launch which broke the game entirely...  And ironically we then had to disable the controller support hours after the game was launched since people didn't seem able to get it working.

The problem being that the xbox controller drivers included with the controller are not up to date, and you have to download special drivers from microsoft to get it working. We'll try to bundle these with the next patch!

Went to the website. Tried to find a download or purchase link. Or any info. Nope.

Why?
Stayed up 48 hours to get the game ready for launch, updating the website was the last thing on my mind haha. We'll get on that tonight or tomorrow.

@eigenborn: that is a bug that we encountered earlier in development and thought we had fixed. It shows up very rarely apparently, we haven't seen it or had it reported for months. I will see if there's anything we can do about it. Going up and down the stairs a lot is what should be triggering it, so try to avoid that and it shouldn't pop up. I noticed we haven't made the Tension level recognize the enemies hiding in the last room as enemies, which will make it possible for the player to go back down the stairs without clearing the level which it shouldn't.

We'll be adding leaderboards for each level ASAP! Right now, bugfixing is the main priority... Crazy

Devolver and Rami from vlambeer donated some beer money for me and Dennis, we literally don't have money for food by now haha. But at least we will have celebration beers this weekend, yay Beer!

Thanks guys! I hope the difficulty won't scare too many people away. I always get complaints about that in my games. And Hotline Miami a hard fucking game.

You do know that now that you have a bigshot publisher you're now a AAA gam dev so can demand weekly kegs of fine danish beer and norwegian hookers. Pretty sure that's how the game industry works...
Cool, didn't know about that! What about cigars and cocaine?

The game is actually starting to feel complete. Some annoying technical things left to do, and some minor details to add. Wish I had money so I could celebrate the launch next week with lots of beer... I guess I'm too indie for that  Hand ClapTiger

Thanks guys! Just got the game to launch from steam which leaves a week to add minor features and properly bugtest the game! Very excited! Gomez

We did a live action teaser. It's set up as if the game was a slasher from the 80s and we did a custom playable character for it, pandering to the people who get the impression that you are a psycho killer in the game (which you obviously aren't if you've seen the other videos). Somehow this derailed into a anti-muslim debate in the youtube comments on the vid GameSpot put up. Kind of hilarious Big Laff

We're doing another live action piece for the launch which will be more in tune with the actual game. Wonder what the comments will be like for that, haha.

Feels like this whole topic started on a sour note and everyone just follows suit and sings the same sad song to fit in. I don't see the problem with venuspatrol.

Venus Patrol is a new videogame website in search of beautiful things

This was posted as the purpose of the website on kickstarter and imo it holds up to it pretty well. I've seen lot of stylish things in the last few posts, some quite inspiring.

Might not fit everyone's taste but I do like it, and I think it's cool to have a more personally flavored website like this. TIGSource updates are scarce and indiegames.com often seems a little bland in its content. I'm glad to see Freeindigam.es and venuspatrol popping up now as I've been growing a little bored with the regular outlets lately.

Thanks man! Game is soon content complete. Needs some polish and I've got minor features to add, but still Beer!
Can't wait to get this done.

I have no idea where the above picture comes from.
It might be someone from Devolver.
It's not me or Dennis, that much I know.
Anyway...
Just here to say that the game will be done soon.
