Basically I'm looking to write a theatre piece inspired by video games, and wanting the soundtrack to be made up of 8 bit/16 bit stuff. Yet to write a word of the script but I find that listening to examples inspires me to write.

Have you thought about throwing the reader in at the start? Rather than explaining who Kohl is, just starting with the first log footage. Might be an exciting way to begin and would definitely create curiosity.
