What? I don't think theres any nominee this year that I'd call a metroidvania. Even though a few of them contain elements that are common in metroidvanias.

Christoffer, replying to eva implies that eva writes something worth replying to.

Here's some awesome logic.

I haven't seen Avatar, but, Avatar is a movie with nothing new to offer, with an unoriginal story, with special effects that aren't as good as everyone says they are.

Case Dismissed.

super innovation

i find it a little bit odd that for as many times as i've cited a lack of innovation with respect to super meat boy, the ensuing discussion has always been a "so what, don't these games deserve to be in IGF too?" and not so much an discussion of "well, mr. podunkian, actually, you're wrong, let's discuss how super meatboy is, in fact, well under the realm of innovative!"

also, i think it's only natural for me, along with anyone else, to take your claims with a grain of salt, seeing as you're a part of its development team.

Side question: Which personality will you be bringing to GDC? Is it the one from last year that hung out with everyone (everyone which you apparently have no respect for what they do) or are you going to bring the internet one out and bash everyone to their faces?

the first, of course, but there's a difference between not respecting anybody, as i do respect super meat boy, and i had a great time with everyone last year (and i'm sure i made it clear, and doubleclear that my pigscene persona doesn't in fact, really reflect my personality). but as a game that embodies (the admittedly unclear) goals of the IGF, super meat boy, IN MY UNINFORMED OPINION does not make sense.

You don't respect Super Meat Boy, you bash it. I only have one personality.

U AINT NO SHIT BRO
dear tommy,

i haven't played super meat boy, but i've played meat boy and unless you're somehow insinuating that it is a vastly different game from the first, and that the innovation somehow lies in the superness of the second game, i still stand by what i say.

hugs and kisses,

arturo

It is and it does.

Arthur:
Your opinion of Super Meat Boy is worthless because you have never played it.

Paul:
Make your own contest and run it. Its probably just as easy as you think.

Super Meat Boy is up...and now begins 2 months of constantly updating, obsessing, and crying in the corner. These are things all totally unrelated to Super Meat Boy being judged for the IGF. Good luck to everyone that entered!

Tommy

I will need a place to stay. Preferably close to Alec so we can strip down and keep eachother warm during those cold unforgiving Phoenix nights.
8  Jobs / Collaborations / Re: The MONOCLE ENGINE on: March 05, 2009, 10:28:15 PM
Haha, I added it to the list!

Basically its up to people with devkits who support the engine to do the work of porting it and verifying the test applications. I have friends with XB360 + Wii kits, but I don't know anyone personally with a PS3 kit yet. But that certainly doesn't rule it out.

Hopefully I'll be able to get my nasty sexy hands on one of these in the very near future. I do have friends with PS3 experience, but as someone else mentioned if the engine is structured well enough you could port it to the PS3 later.

Boobs,

Tommy

Currently the second generation of the Goo! engine is Xbox, Wii, and PC cross platform with just a recompile, so I can help out with cross platform stuff and threading (of course). My part would be somewhat limited with the workload I have currently, but I'm a fan of engines.

So how many millions of copies have you sold yet?  Shocked

Well,

Yesterday we had a mind blowing day capping out at 14 copies. Needless to say Kyle and I have quit our jobs and have purchased slaves. My slave is named Ronny, he's from the Ukraine!

Great. More shit to shovel away in order to get to the good stuff in the app store.

This is why Apple will implement a tiered system which will favour EA and other big publishers.

Good job on nuking the level playfield for us. Sigh!

Wait....so does this mean you aren't buying it?
