Interesting process. I actually kind of like the rounded-ish one in the center row all the way to the right but as an enemy, the final design probably makes more sense as it has a much sturdier feel to it.
I kind of decided I want too make it more "industrial".

But they very hard to hit on some enemies.

Yeah, on some enemies they need to be tweaked a bit.

Whoaaa this is sweet! The art style reminds me of Kentucky Route Zero a little bit (which is also a gorgeous game). Keep up the good work!

I've been redoing the waterfalls, here's what I got.

New  (EDIT: New gif /w changed white water).

Old - Sucks

And here's some more wildlife.

NPC set

To me, they both look nice. The old one looks enchanted, whereas the new one looks like, well, a waterfall. You could include both, or combine the two for a super-amazing-magical-waterfall.

I agree, I think if you add the motion of the new waterfall and add it to the style of the old one it would look sweet.

Love the art style though, those pixel animations are fantastic!!

Check out the pulse our tech-artist made!  The pulse radiates out from the Heartstone object (the large glowing stone with spinning sockets) and spreads across the map. The Heartstone is the driving object of the main mechanic, as it replenishes players health when they attach to it. Conversely, players drain health whenever they shoot, making the Heartstone an essential object to survival. Players move collectively while attached, but cannot shoot while replenishing health.

Now back to the pulse. Our tech-artist created a shader that takes the alpha channel of a texture and converts it to an incandescent glow. The shader activates this glow in world-space based on an ever increasing radius from the Heartstone.

We hope to eventually use this pulse as a way of directing players throughout the map. Possibly to indicate respawn areas or power-ups throughout the game

Hope ya like it!

Thanks Conker!  Smiley

Here is a close up of a few of the floor tiles I've been working on. Trying to add some hand painted details to the environment

27  Community / DevLogs / Tetrapulse - 2-4 player CO-OP, now on Kickstarter! on: June 20, 2013, 09:49:42 PM
Hey Everyone!

UPDATE: We're on Kickstarter! (2 Days Remaining)
Check it out here: Tetrapulse Kickstarter

Tetrapulse is a four player single screen co-op game where you and your friends join forces to battle a swarm of alien robo-bugs using the only weapon you have left: your own life-force. Every shot of your laser drains your health as you work together to protect the Heartstone, an ancient battery that powers you and your friends.

Goals and Features
  • 4 player co-op
  • Networked multiplayer games
  • Support for PC, Mac, and Linux
  • Procedural level creation for infinite replayability
  • Competitive leaderboards
  • Coming to Steam

Our hope is that we can continue to polish this game to its fullest potential. We want to create an experience where friends can hang out together on the same couch, all while yelling and screaming at one another.

Please feel free to post any feedback about the game. Whether you think its something you could see yourself playing or if you think the game is complete trash, we would love to hear it. But more importantly we would love it if you told us why you like it or hate it, so we can continue to improve what needs to be fixed and make it the best game we can.

Check us out in these places as well!

Hey Everyone!

My name is Peter and I just finished up my third year at DePaul University, studying computer animation with a focus in game art. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that game development actually peaked my interest (The first indie game I ever player was around two years ago). Last summer I worked on a team of 18 incredibly awesome people and created a crazy game called Groovy Tuesday --> www.groovytuesday.com. You basically roller skate around as an elephant funkifying your boring world. Sound pretty crazy right?

After working on that I was pretty much hooked on game development and the indie scene in general. I couldn't believe how supportive a group of people in the same industry could be.

Anyways, now I'm working on another game project called Tetrapulse, which is a 4-player co-op wave based game in which your weapon doubles as your health.

You can check out the project here: www.tetrapulse.com

Thanks!  Grin
