This is an amazing game. I got it about a month ago after seeing a few short plays of it on youtube, one of the channels being the Yogscast (BlueXephos). A few days ago I got the latest update (06-13-13), which fixed a lot of issues (couldn't get items out of water) and added some cool features (new rooms, angled walls, doors, hidden doors). Since this update, I've actually been able to beat the Lich and get the orb back to the entrance!
Anyway, I also want to note a few issues and feature requests here. I know that some of these have been posted here before, but I don't think I have the mental stamina to be able to go back and figure out which ones were and then eliminate them from the list. Perhaps these can just be friendly reminders? lol
Issues:- Mobs tend to get snagged in the jagged edges of angled walls and just not be able to move. While this can be a welcome effect at times, it does feel kinda unfair.
- It's very difficult to pick up items that have fallen next to a door and impossible to do so if they've fallen on the same square as an exit/entrance ladder.
- It seems that potion effects get reassigned within a single dungeon under certain circumstances. I think it happens whenever I close the game, although it could happen when I simply exit the dungeon and go back in. Also, I believe it happens to potions that drop after the dungeon is re-entered, whereas all the ones already in my inventory are still the same as before. However, it could be happening even to the ones that were already dropped but just hadn't been picked-up yet. This needs more testing.
- Occasionally loot gets stuck in walls and ceilings, where they are visible but inaccessible. This can be particularly annoying if you have to set something down temporarily to get something else and you accidentally throw your best sword into a wall that you're too close to.
Requests/Suggestions:- Method of customizing game controls. I can't tell you how hard it is to unlearn other game control configurations in order to play this.
- Translucent water and waterfalls with textures underneath and behind. Not only would this look awesome, but it would allow us to clearly see any items that fell in.
- Hidden passages behind waterfalls.
- Doors and secret doors in levels other than the first two.
- Locked doors for levels other than the last one, where you have to find a key in one location of the level in order to get through.
- Mini-boses at the end of a chain of a particular level type. For instance, a dungeon boss on level 2, a cave boss on level 4, and a sewer boss on level 6.
- Options to generate additional levels when starting a dungeon. The current arrangement is fairly short (2 dungeon, 2 cave, 2 sewer, 1 undead). If this could be designated as "Short", then there could "Medium" (3d,3c,3s,2u), "Long" (5d,5c,5s,3u), and possibly more.
- Additional undead levels that generate randomly like the others.
There's more where that came from, but I'll take a break for now :P
