So yeah, after the feedback, looking something like this:  Darker lines, animation speed changes, new lantern effect, lantern asset tweaks. Still got a few more tweaks to do, but I think I'm cutting it fine with Apple as it is... Thanks again!

Hey SeanNoonan, Just as a fun pixel art challenge for myself I tried to make a torch that would give more visual feedback on whether it was out or not while still only using your four colours (hope you don't mind):  I am not king of pixel art town but this is probably how I would do it (tho I'm not 100% on my white outline hmmm it's a cheap fix usually) - adding orange and stuff would be an easy fix but I think it's more about the form of your sprite and like Azure said the contrast and things. Wow, thanks for the feedback! You're totally right - I was really being lazy having the candle light behind the lantern, and I really like the tweaks you made. I have been trying to avoid white outlines in my game, but I really feel you've convinced me to go with them - especially around the interactables (i.e. the piles of snow and lanterns). Seriously, thanks for the feedback. This is my first real attempt at pixel art, so I'm all ears (eyes) :D

Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely make the darkest shade darker, it'll help a bunch as things start moving fast. As for the candle, while I agree that looks totally awesome, I can't break my 4 colour GameBoy palette rule for this game (though I think it would totally work for a sequel or something). That red/orange on the mute blue really pops out, looks amazing. Damn my silly rules :D

Maaaan your game looks freakin' awesome  those colours and outlines complement each other really well. Congrats on those great reviews too!  Thanks! It's away! Hopefully Apple approve it a bit quicker than they did last time...  Halloween "2spooky" update
- Added new level (Old Londinium) - Added new character (Jack O. Lantern) - Added new music (map select and Old Londinium) - Added map select screen - Added character select screen - Added screenshake (!!!) - Added Halloween colour palette for Old Londinium - Added Pause button position swap - Removed curse (will return in future update) Game Center MIGHT work... it worked in testing but I couldn't get it working during submission. Pain in the arse.

That was a great article and I liked your reasoning for staying in AAA; the people is a huge motivator for me and it's certainly one of the reason my current project has been such a joy despite the endless hours. It must be great to be able to still do your own thing every now and then.
I've also got two Android devices (an old Galaxy S+ and a newer and decent tablet) if you need someone to help with the testing, but if you're looking to getting the device yourself most of the guys I know use the Galaxy S2 as the baseline device.
Thanks! Yeah, I've been tempted by the indie route many times, but I don't think I'm ready... at least not yet  Thanks for the Android advice - I'll be sure to look into it come November. Here's the latest on the new menu flow:  (click for big)

 Jack B. Nimble Halloween update... Love the update to this - always been partial to orange. Thanks! Nice colors !
Glad you like them, I'm going to look into having them unlockable for the whole game, not just the level  Here's an update to the game flow - felt it needed it now there's more than one level and character...

My 13 yo geeked out when I showed him your game. He's a total Gameboy fan (he'll eat through batteries on my generation 1 Gameboy I still have)and loves Indiana Jones with Raiders being his favorite movie so Jack B. Nimble just grabbed him. That's awesome to hear - thought I was gonna be out of luck with younger audiences on account of the Gameboy being released in 1989 - a long time before the birth of kids today. I'm glad to be proven wrong  Thanks

Started work on the October update! - Game Center Leaderboards - Game Center Achievements - A new colour palette - Screenshake!!! - Halloween treats!  Very nice stuff! Thank you  I'm really not feeling very well at the moment, so here's something just in case I vanish for a while...  (potential Halloween update)
