Latests demo: http://onewayup.sebb.dk/demo/04/

I decreased the speed of the meteors,  a arrow is a good solution as well,
i might split the meteor into a few different types since it is a relatively easy task. Smiley

Status update! Well, hello there!

I added the concept of fuel to the game every-time you boost you now use fuel which you have to collect by flying up.
This "fixes" patient players from simply getting into a slow rythm, and ads another level of stress.

The basic gameplay has been improved a lot, the game play totally different from the original game but in a good way. Smiley

Next step i gonna be polishing up the graphics and interfaces, fixing a bug on the death particle system, and then i can actually start making beta releases.

Gameplay is kinda slim, but i can add more in updates, designing a boss-battle might actually be a fun challenge with the current restraints of the game.
On the other hand adding a online scoreboard could be fun too.

But i gotta keep scope, to keep my timeplan i need to have a release candidate sometime this week.
Polish and bugfixing first and then if extra time allows i will add more stuff.  Wizard

I am just waiting for stuff to synchronise, and then i will post a new game demo problaby sometime tomorrow.
This new version features some score tracking that i am gonna use to balance the game later.

Anyhows cheers!  Beer!
I am gonna get some sleep now!

Thanks for the feedback!

With my recent gameplay change i should be able to add lots of different kinds of challenges fairly easy.
And i could always just release extra things in updates. Smiley

I am a bit limited in time, but i could always release updates after release with extra things.

Update! Smiley

I changed the game mechanics today, added movement left/right and comets flying at your face, the game is much harder now, and i have a slew of ideas for stuff you have to dodge like this.

Also learned to save my scene more often... unity crashed and detroyed 2 prefabs i had spend a good deal time setting up..
They where faster setting up 2'end tim around since fortunately tho.

The graphics seem kinda messy now tho, i clearly need to work the aesthetics more, i will try and look into it tomorrow.

Made a quick gameplay gif:

Worked on details today, it is starting to polish good, tho i did not feel like i moved mountains, spend time on the player animation and death particle effects and such.

Demo of the day:
http://localhost/onewayup/demo/02/

I have given it good thought i and i am going to add so the player can move left and right but tapping on the given side of the player.
I will make a demo of it tomorrow to see how it plays.

let me know if you have thought on the demo.

Until then cheers!

Delayed again today, i am changing my stream time to  21:00 (gmt +1), my daily workload is a bit bigger than anticipated these days.

Todays progress report.

The basic gameplay is working, you can demo it here:
http://onewayup.sebb.dk/demo/

Simply press up or press the mouse to propel your self up.

One my todo list is still to add in the moon, a explosion on death, particle effects on the plains, player animation, intro sequence and a bunch more, but this is a good start.

On a side note i am finding it pleasantly easy to setup the game in Unity, especially considering i just picked unity up a few weeks ago.

OneWayUp

Become a beta tester!

I have started doing a beta testing round, join the beta here:

Become a beta tester!

OneWayUp is my a gameproject i have been working on for a few weeks now, the idea is based of a game i did about a year ago.

The new version is way different thant the original version, in fact i am adding stuff all the time.
A game that really just should have been a clone has ended up being an exploration into gamedesign. :D

Try the original flash game here:
http://sebbdk.github.io/onewayup/source-desktop/bin-release/Main.html

Also i am streaming the entire development process on twitch, feel free to drop by:
twitch

Or just follow me on twitter if that is your thing:
twitter.com/sebbdk

I plan to release on IOS and Android, and possible a desktop version, but it depends on where i end up as i come up with more things. Smiley

Laters!

Hey i am making a 10 second event based game as a continuation for my Ludum dare 27 game.
Every 10 seconds something happens or the rules change, this could be stuff like, do no harm, hide, the map changes, you get reduced to one life or just 10 shots etc.

Demo, le game so far:
http://sebb.dk/flash/ld27/web/game/

My feature brainstorm for stuff i might  add, i want to add,
https://gist.github.com/sebbdk/6359136

I problably not gonna implement half of this tho since i am constricting my self to having this be within 2 weeks.
As such some feed back on what features you think would be nice are welcome, even if they are not on the list Smiley

In any case play the demo and tell me if anything is wrong, or could be better, and please be as direct in your oppinion as possible Smiley
I will update is i make more features!

Screenshots!

Hmm thanks i settled for a JSON structure for now.

Example:
https://gist.github.com/sebbdk/6213684

With this i should be able to have something dynamic that i can expand on in complexity if i need Smiley
34  Developer / Technical / Conversation editor, what to use? on: August 12, 2013, 09:25:05 AM
I am looking for a tool to make/edit conversations in, the end product should end up like what fx. Baldurs Gate has.
Since i am writing stuff from scratch i was hoping to find a generic tool that would translate to JSON or XML.

Alternatively i could write up a javascript app my self, but meh' being a programmer is all about being lazy, and i like to follow standards  Gentleman

So can anyone recommend a tool, or tell me what is most commonly done when you need to write conversations like this?

Seems fairly indept and there are alot of good info here Smiley
However i think some very newbee people might be scared off, a short project oriented apporach might work better, force the user to just use notepad for a start, and then walk them through making a hello world example with some screenshots, or just link to a example html file.

Also try and be more direct in what you want to communicate, instead of mentioning text editor's and browsers in the beginning, move it to closer to the end, that way you let the reader build up some confidence from fx. the "hello world" and list examples before they are given too many options that have to think about Smiley

Other than that, i think it is awesome that you are sharing what you know with the world Smiley

It was nice with peoples reactions, but if felt unrewarded somehow when it did something right,  the promised secret was not enough to keep me going, played through a 3-4 days, the graphics and music seemed in balance tho.

I second SirNiko's idea, make some illustrated mocks of the gameflow Smiley

There are a few services on the net that will give you score systems thrugh a API for a fee i think.
As for the social element, Android has a Facebook library you can use to share images/scores with.

I really like the art style, gameplay and progression seems fast paced aswell, which is something i personally like. Smiley
