If this is still happening I'd like to come along.

Also, weight affected the speed to the point you could even be immobile and get physical strain.
The Elder Scrolls series does that too (well, Morrowind and Oblivion anyway, and minus the physical strain) and, to honest, it's always annoyed me more than anything.

Yeah I'm not a subscriber to the school of thought that inventory management should be a non-optional mini game you're forcing on the player.

I too am a fan of the metal gear system, to be honest I'm down with anything that doesn't require me to bring up a separate screen and drop out of the game. In my last game we just had an inventory bar at the top of the screen that appeared when your mouse was up there, so you're still in the game world.

The idea sounds cool but it doesn't workable in any kind of competitive play as you'd essentially be removing any notion of balance that games like Street Fighter and such rely on.

After we failed to get another game made I've been away from indie game dev for some years, but right now I am deep at work on another game hoping to have it done around the end of the year.

Aww... For the Game imploded?

I loved the White Chamber. Creepy as hell. Looking forward to your next project.

Glad you enjoyed the game. I'm hoping to go back and finish For The Game in the next year or so as we produced a LOT of material for it. But right it's much less hassle to work on something different. Once my new site is up, I'm going to start up a DevBlog that will include a load of information about Trophis including what happened with For The Game.

I'm also wary of the notion of anything not coded here is bloaty and not fit for purpose. HOWEVER not looking to get involved in the argument above.

Will say, right now I personally couldn't give any feedback until your videos start showing some real interesting gameplay.

hmmm... solved it. But not really my cup of tea.

I think one of the problems a lot of games have with dialogue/moral choices is that the results and consequences are always visible straight away. In real life the consequences of a stupid choice often won't manifest for a long while, when it's far past the point where you could change it. I'd like to see games let you make decision and then come back later and find out what that did.

Best example I can think of it being done is getting the ghouls and humans to live together in Tenpenny Tower in Fallout 3. The consequences you find later and very well played.

Very much liking your prototypes so far. Reminds me of that Electroplankton for DS but more interesting.

Hi Guys,

I'm Richard Perrin, I'm an indie game designer/programmer... well sort of. I made a game called the white chamber back in 2005, sci-fi horror point and click adventure thingy:

After we failed to get another game made I've been away from indie game dev for some years, but right now I am deep at work on another game hoping to have it done around the end of the year. Will get a website sorted out soonish to show you guys what I'm working on.

Main thing that's made me decided to join your community though is that I do a weekly podcast about video games along with a games journalist mate of mine (www.stage-clear.co.uk) and planning to introduce an "indie game of the week" feature. So figured best way to find material was to get involved in the community where this stuff comes from.

Not planning to spam you all with links to my stuff, actually looking forward to talking about indie games. ^_^

In terms of my own gaming history, I was brought up on text adventures on my old MSX and Spectrum. Truth be told I was always TERRIBLE at text adventures but I loved them anyway.  Eventually I graduated up to playing LucasArts and Sierra adventures on my PC. These days I love all types of games equally, except racing games.
