Wait, they will have Zero but they will use the classic Megaman!? Will they be using Megaman Zero's Zero then?

...the game is a little less awesome. If it's confirmed, that is. But if they don't confirm Zero, it will be very disappointing...

Anyway, Morrigan is already very transformative. Can't they really fit B.B. Hood?

I could start removing the games with less votes in the poll from the list. What do you think?
164  Player / Games / Re: Marvel vs Capcom 3 on: October 25, 2010, 12:38:58 PM
It has to be true. So much awesomeness.  Addicted

Red Arremer, Zero and Megaman, Strider Hiryu, Shuma-Gorath, Storm, Thanos and... Howard the Duck!? I'm really curious about this one.

I can't see Phoenix Wright being anything other than support. What does he have other than dramatic finger-pointing? Using Objection! as a projectile or area attack seems overly weird, but not Phoenix Wright weird. He is awesome, but he's not a fighter.

Gene would've been perfect for a game like this, though.

@iffi

Thanks. I've updated Clean Asia and Shoot the Bullet. I'll add the others later (weekend at most), I don't have time to do it right now. There is no problem in suggesting more games from the same devs, there is a lot a already and we will pick a few to highlight.

The thread is kind of slow Sad I was expecting a lot more suggestions. I would add more but picking games for "The Indie List" by myself is kind of pretentious. Well, I only created it yesterday...
166  Player / Games / Re: Indie Games Highlight on: October 25, 2010, 07:53:26 AM
Um, Braid? Passage?

The whole point of the other thread is to suggest more recent games to add to an old list I dug up in the forums. There are several important ones missing. Like I said, I will add them to the poll as the list gets updated. I intend to add new games to the list and the poll at least once a week, in the weekends. I'm not having a whole lot of time to deal with this in the weekdays(in fact I am neglecting my job just to answer you).

Good suggestions, by the way. Please, add them to the other thread.
167  Player / Games / Indie Games Highlight on: October 24, 2010, 06:28:45 PM
Since the list on the new Beginner's Guide to Indie Gaming thread is huge, we have to make it easier to the newcomer to know which of these games they should try first, to have an idea of what indie games are and can be.

I've listed all games from that list here. Pick 10.
I will update the poll when new entries are added to the list.

EDIT: Post your suggestions in the Beginner's Guide to Indie Gaming thread. Having suggestions in just a single thread avoids confuzlement.

EDIT2: Entries with 0 votes will be removed, so if you don't want a particular game to disappear from the list, be sure to vote for them.
168  Player / Games / Beginner's Guide to Indie Gaming (Update) on: October 24, 2010, 05:53:56 PM
So, I'm updating the old Beginner's Guide to Indie Gaming. I have updated some broken links and left some observations. Since it has been a while since the thread was last updated, I believe there are several good games released more recently that didn't have a mention.

Since the old blog feature was lost, left to the abyss of the lost bits, and since, even though TIGdb is an awesome resource, some important games can end up not showing up in the first pages of the Top list, I decided to bring the old list back.

Like the old thread, the intention of this is one is not to list everyone's favorite indie games, but representatives of justic indie games in general. Variety is recommended.

Since the list is getting kind of overwhelmingly huge, a few games will be voted to be highlighted. This will happen in another thread.

You will notice that I added the People category. Since there are several good games from the same devs, even on this list, It would be nice to make a list of devs a newcomer should know about, with links for personal pages and/or list of works.

172  Player / General / Re: Posting Under Your Real Name- Why or Why Not? on: October 16, 2010, 02:48:54 PM
I'd want to start using only my real name, but as it is, I'm stuck with this. Sad

You could do a gradual transition, placing your name alongside with your nick for some time, e.g. John Doe (AmishAndroid) or John "AmishAndroid" Doe. Actually, you could stick with it permanently, so that people will still be able to find Hempuli.
173  Player / General / Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I on: October 16, 2010, 02:18:33 PM
I wanted to give SEGA and Dimps the benefit of the doubt, even defend them. I liked the Advance games (I even checked the physics and they are OK) and I see no problem on homing attacks (in fact, I think it's an improvement), I don't think uncurling is such a big deal (especially if compensated by homing attack) and I certainly don't see the point of complaining about Sonic's character design ...

... but why? Why!? Why are the physics so Where are the physics? You are not even able to roll downhill properly...

Ugh... even though I'm not that obssessed with Sonic, I am very, very disappointed. And so another Sonic cycle closes.
174  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Minecraft (alpha) on: October 16, 2010, 01:02:05 PM
That's not the only way of cheating. Due to a chest update glitch you can duplicate items with the right timing, as many times as you want. It means that you can turn a single block of anything into an unlimited amount of the same resource. Even blocking item spawning doesn't stop it (since it's a completely unrelated problem).
175  Player / General / Re: Posting Under Your Real Name- Why or Why Not? on: October 10, 2010, 05:54:58 PM
I began using this nickname with the creation of an alternative email account to separate gaming and other hobbies from family and job matters. Even though it also works as a way of hiding what I do in my free time or in RL from whoever I don't want to know it, it is mostly a way of organizing my internet life.

Personally, even though I act mostly the same whether I am using my real name or a nickname and I don't really have any need to hide myself, I like the idea of being disguised Ninja. I know that if somebody really wanted to find my real identity, it probably wouldn't be very difficult. I also know that it's unlikely that anyone would go through the trouble of tracking my real identity unless I become much more noteworthy. Still, I enjoy it.

Ultimately, I don't feel that using a nickname is too different from using an actual name, at least on the internet. The nickname is also associated to a personality and a reputation with time. Unless the nick is changed constantly, it makes little difference. But even considering this, I'm strongly against the enforcement of the use of real names online. People should have the right of hiding their identities if they want to and there are good reasons for doing so sometimes.
176  Player / Games / Re: Nintendo 3DS on: October 10, 2010, 04:43:11 PM
Suetsugu's design is by far the most distinctive in my eye, though most all of them are adorable.

Even though it certainly isn't plain, I don't consider that cowgirl look exactly distinctive. The only thing that makes it somewhat unique are those glasses and that type of glasses has been overused by heroic characters in games and anime.
177  Player / Games / Re: Nintendo 3DS on: October 10, 2010, 03:37:04 PM
I like Komaki's design the most. It's distinctive without being too cheesy, it looks action-y and it doesn't go for fanservice. But it seems that Suetsugu's is the most voted one.
178  Player / General / Re: There's no escape from sexual harassment! on: October 02, 2010, 06:14:39 PM
Is this still going on...  Facepalm

Well, I guess you convinced me of something. If you can be so offended by a moment of comedic absurdity in a lighthearted game, it is possible that some people take it seriously as well and decide to imitate it, which would be stupid. Maybe my expectations of common sense were to high...
179  Player / General / Re: There's no escape from sexual harassment! on: October 02, 2010, 11:06:45 AM
Nobody is even being hit on. You are extrapolating the situation. Like I said, I could extrapolate a cartoonish RPG enemy death to a gory murder, but I don't see any reason to do that, since it certainly wasn't the intention.
180  Player / General / Re: There's no escape from sexual harassment! on: October 02, 2010, 10:46:41 AM
@Salt
The happiest day for humanity will be when everybody will be able to joke about everybody else and nobody will take it seriously. Like I said, I don't think this example of "sexual harassment" is even worth of dwelling on.

The whole situation is pathetic, it is never intended to be taken seriously. They aren't talking about her body parts, just saying she is beautiful. Apparently, none of them is even considering asking her out. They seem to be so insecure that the highest hope they have is of touching her hand when receiving change. It's as cartoony, silly and as inconsequential as one of the thousands of enemies you whack on the head until it poofs. Are we going to dwell on the moral consequences of killing them? Extinction of species? Genocide? Are we going to dwell on the risks of getting seriously injured by slipping on a banana peel? Comedy often not tasteful for everybody and most comedy is based in someone being in an unpleasant situation, but it is usually not intended to be taken seriously. This isn't even particularly objectionable, it's just silly.

Making a drama out of these lesser things only make the issue worse. It raises tension and make people less likely to take things seriously when a greater issue appears.

So please, let's discuss actual sexist games, not to pick on (bad) comedians. Or even better, let's discuss about good female characters, since it's what we are aiming for.
