Hey thank you! I'm glad you like it! I've had a lot of fun designing these critters from scratch, that's just my favorite kind of job, and see what an animator as talented as Matjaz made with my models is really amazing Smiley

Hello Everyone!

We wanted to follow up our announcement trailer post, from a couple of weeks ago, with a more in depth explanation of some of the ideas behind the game.

For those who don't know The Mobius Machine is a new metroidvania that will be available on March 1st 2024. Check it out on Steam or PS5 (Xbox Series, GOG, Humble Bundle pages coming soon).

We started our studio back in 2015, and made city builders Dawn of Man and Planetbase, but this time around we felt like a different challenge, and since we always been big metroidvania fans ourselves we decided to make our own.

Madruga Works is a small team, with only 3 permanent people (plus 5 contractors ATM), but we have all been making games for a very long time, back in the day for large corporations, these days in our small indie studio.

The Mobius Machine is a classic metroidvania in many ways, but with a few twists:

Seamless World.
There will be no loading screens of any kind once you boot the game, the game plays in some sort of 2.5D open world where you can go anywhere, there are various sectors with different themes, but you just "walk" into new areas without any kind of physical separation.

Shoot anywhere.
All weapons can be aimed, they will fire in a straight line if you don't, but most of the time you really will want to aim at stuff if you want good results. You can aim/shoot while standing, crouching, moving forwards/backwards, on ladders, swimming, diving etc...On the Gamepad you use the right stick to aim and the triggers to fire your main/alternative weapon, if you use mouse + keyboard the default is WASD to move and left/right click to aim/shoot.

Art Style.
We are trying to create a distinct art style, our art director is a big fan of films like "Alien" or "The Thing" and speculative biology in general and we are trying to create something with that vibe.

3D Visuals.
There aren't too many metroidvanias with 3D graphics out there, and since we are way better at making 3D graphics than 2D stuff, we've decided to try to make this one of the strong points of the game.We are using the latest Unity High Definition Pipeline, which allows you to create some really cool looking visuals, with very nice lighting and all sorts of visual effects.

Apart from that we will also include more classic elements, like a variety of gear that adds new abilities that increase your mobility and unlock different areas, and craftable/upgradeable weapons and stats. The game is now fully playable from start to finish, but we are working on finishing the visuals/audio and tweaking the gameplay to make it the best experience possible!

We'll share more info about the project soon, so stay tuned!

Thank you very much for your kind comments guys!!! We're really glad for the positive feedback that we're receiving after this first announce, this encourages us to work even harder to make the game as good as we get Smiley

We are spending a ton of time making sure controls are easy to use and responsive.
Here is a short video on how to aim/shoot/move/jump using the Gamepad. (But for PC users who prefer to play using keyboard and mouse the game is also perfectly playable).

Hello Everyone,

We are finally ready to announce our next project: The Mobius Machine.

We've been working on this project full time for about two years now, and are finally at a point were we can share the news!

The Mobius Machine is a classic 2D adventure game, but with 3D graphics.
The game features exploration and combat in equal measure, you crashland on alien planet and have to explore it and fight your way through it to escape.

This is our shot at the Action/Adventure/Metroidvania genre, but with a few twists:

You can move/jump around freely while shooting in any direction. We've worked really hard to make this nice to play on both Gamepad and Mouse + Keyboard.
We've created a large interconnected 3D word (with 2D movement), that you you can explore freely without any loading screens.
The game mechanics change quite a bit during the experience, you start being able to just run/jump/fire, and then you progressively gain more mobility when you discover new gear.

We are aiming to release on March 1st 2024, there will be a public beta at some point.

We will be posting regular updates on Twitter, on the community section on Steam and also on this thread.

Check out the Alpha Gameplay Teaser (everything in this trailer is Work In Progress).
