Updated!

- tutorial progress is now saved.
- freeplay level ratings are now saved.
- upgrade ranks and unlocks are now saved.
- it is now possible to resume the game from the last level you played
- getting a high rating in 3 of 4 easy freeplay levels now unlocks medium freeplay levels.
-  added large jumpgate, both an entrance and an exit in one slowly-rotating package.
- the brake manuever (single LMB click on any ship) no longer slows ships to a halt, this made changing direction too easy.
- adjusted light levels, I can see clearly now.
- fixed large station spawns not getting a direction and a ship color.
- providing you have vessels remaining in dock, you can now deploy vessels consecutively. Without having to hit deploy, choose destination, then hit deploy again, etc. Now you just deploy, deploy, deploy. Say THAT 6 times fast!
- fixed a crash when lasers hit an asteroid
- fixed an issue where you could no longer mouseover shipping if you cancelled deploying a utility vessel with RMB
- fixed particle types and systems not being destroyed when changing levels (sometimes engine trails still existed when you returned to the main menu for example)

Hey Gro,

the game itself was built in Gamemaker Studio.

Nothing complex, Basic Lighting (glows, flashs and headlights, etc) was done with sprites drawn to a black surface then subtracted with blend modes.

The Bloom lighting is a separate object which uses a shader again to draw to a surface.

Some particle effects for engine trails, damage, smoke and so on.

Everything else is a sprite drawn, by me, in paint.net

Small bug fixer update!

- fixed an issue where objectives would appear in the wrong order in the summary screen
- added global counter for number of escape pods rescued (to facilitate implementing achievements later)
- lowered the spawn rate of asteroids
- fixed engine exhaust being drawn below planets
- added UI sounds to upgrade screen
- added exit button to summary screen
- added escape pods as occluding objects (for bloom lighting)
- replace engine sound

Hi everyone,

I'm Ross Edgar, the code guy, drawing guy and design guy behind Galactica TC [GTC]. GTC has taken around 1 year to develop to this point, prior to that it's taken around a thousand years to learn all the skills I've needed to produce this game, and I'm still learning.

When I started to make GTC I wanted to create a game where you are not Space Captain McWonderful. We've seen enough of those! I wanted to create a game about the people who sit in the background BEHIND Captain McWonderful. What are they doing? What is their day like? And what job is more stressful, and relevant to space travel, than Air Traffic Control?

I realized early on there are a LOT of Air-Traffic control games already out there. But mostly on mobile, and mostly with zero depth - simply place square peg in square hole and try not to screw it up. When I was designing GTC, I tried to add many layers of (sort-of) realistic drama and excitement to the game. It's not just a case of getting ships where they need to go! You need to consider the speed and dimensions of the ship, it's role, it's political affiliation and it's surrounding environment to be successful.

GTC is currently in early alpha, and I (hope) think it's ready to be seen by you, the public. On release it will have all of the features listed in the description above, plus anything else I can reasonably squeeze in in the next few months. Initial release will be PC only, but if successful you can expect a Linux and MAC version as soon as possible. Language support will be English only at release - but I expect to add French, German and Spanish as soon as possible.

I hope you like Galactica TC and I look forward to responding to your comments.

Fly Safe.

Ross Edgar.

Hi,

I'm seeking inspiration and/or submissions for spaceship design and artwork for my new game.

I've made planets, nebulas, asteroids (oh my), but I'm not able to draw anything I'm happy with for spaceships

Here is an example of what I have currently:

I'm thinking like maxis, planetary annihilation, looking sprites. Something that blends well with the current look. But any and all suggestions are welcome.

This is a serious project by an indie dev with one successful project already out the door.

If whomever comes forward is interested in more work, there is a good chance of making this an official collaboration with art credits and money! (assuming we make any)

Specifications

- min size 112 * 112

- max size 2048 * 2048

- Right now I am looking for Human ships, so no glowing tentacles, etc (you get the idea)

- As you can see from the screenshot, the art style is more cartoon than dead serious. Think wildstar or again, planetary annihilation.

-  IMPORTANT - The ships are modular, so they need to be able to "join" seamlessly with the other sprites. For example, below is a ship made of 3 modules.

Thanks for reading.
