Developer / Technical / Re: Silverlight 5: "XNA for web browsers"

XNA on web is good. What I need to know is: is IronPython still in Silverlight (I assume so), and can you finally make standalone applications with it? (for all supported platforms?)
lil help?
it looks like IronPython is under continued development on its codeplex site (with updates fairly recently). I don't know much else about it, tbh (having never written any Python myself...) Yes, you can build as a standalone app for PC/Mac (and Windows Phone 7) (not 100% sure this is all available in the new beta yet, as I haven't had a chance to look at it since installing..) - Seesmic Desktop (twitter client) is one fairly high profile example of a cross-platform standalone Silverlight app.

Developer / Technical / Silverlight 5: "XNA for web browsers"

Recently announced at MIX11: Silverlight 5 featuresOf particular interest to game devs: - Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) accelerated 3-D application programming interface (API) provides rich graphics on the Web for building advanced data visualizations and rich user experience (UI).
- Immediate mode graphics API allows direct rendering to the GPU.
- Hardware acceleration is enabled in windowless mode with Internet Explorer 9.
Tim James' blog has more details - it appears that the XNA framework is being brought over to Silverlight 5 (minus the Content Pipeline, and a few other things).. Adoption of Silverlight for games hasn't been fantastic to date (with the big portals like Kongregate, Newgrounds not even supporting it) - but maybe this new feature set will allow developers to create something impressive enough to convince them it's worthwhile! Anyway - the you can get the "beta and tools" now from this site! I will certainly be looking forward to seeing what people create!

Strangely, a person's height is usually measured in feet and inches the UK...despite everything else being metres/centimetres.
And road signs are miles... and actually many people still use imperial. Measurements are always like "1 metre (3.28 feet)" because people CAN'T FUCKING MAKE UP THEIR MINDS. true... milk and beer come in pints, too..

The metric system works a lot better than that stupid roller coaster they call the imperial system. Because of that, I still don't even know how many feet are in a mile!
I don't think I've ever known... it makes no sense! Strangely, a person's height is usually measured in feet and inches the UK...despite everything else being metres/centimetres.

the only real tea is regular tea... all these different types?! crazy... I think the concept of "types" of tea is only really big outside of the UK...here, a tea is a tea...normally milk, no sugar. (unless you specifically ask for something different!) I drink tea with milk and one sugar. Does this mean i drink white tea, or black tea that contains milk and sugar? hahahah yes! when I've been away places I've had to ask for "black tea with milk", as "white tea" is something else.. ugh, I remember one particularly tragic time when a bar (the only one near enough to where I was staying) ran out of black tea and just gave me a green tea instead..but still added the milk (I would've preferred the green tea plain)... it was grim...but i still drank it because i was pretty desperate at this point.

Like I said (elsewhere) we need to have a debate subforum for people to just shout at each other.

I prefer tea... milk no sugar. but if it's gonna be coffee, I have to get a few sugars in there...and a bit of milk. I've probably only had 20-30 coffees in my life (compared to probably between 5 and 15 teas a day.....)

Hello! I never made a post about our awesome game STICK UNLEASHED so I figured it was time I did... I took some time off from EGV2 to put together a stickman action game, with some vehicles and a level editor 'n stuff.. It's got offline co-op 1-4 players and vs 2-4 players (team vs 3-4 playes) ! A full campaign with increasingly hard challenges, cars to drive, helicopters and spacecraft to fly.. I put in some wall jumping and ducking, too (people love to walljump, eh?) There's a youtube video here: and here are some screenshots: level editor: level editor: you can get it (or trial version) from X360 marketplace, here: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Stick-Unleashed/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802585507ae
