Just shut up and listen!
This is how it's going to work.

Tomorrow morning, 6AM sharp, on the north side of the bus stop where Janine left you for that guy in the cricket club, a woman dressed in a green cardigan with a black irish terrier will wait for exactly 5 minutes. When you see her say this exact phrase "I'm the con man with 500$ for a game.".
She will then reply "Then shove em up your ass."
Give her the money.
You will then be pointed to a sepia corvette stingray with no license plate.
The driver will hand you a double encrypted floppy disk.
On the floppy disk is the game.
Use your first pet name and then Janine's favorite lipstick color to bypass the encryption.

If you don't show up, Janine will get video proof of you cheating on her with the cafeteria lady.

This message will self destruct.

Sure thing!
First send me the 500$ in 50$ bills (I will give you an undisclosed location under a bridge somewhere) after which I will send you the Yakuza clone game, heck, I'll even make it MMORPG for you.

guys,

It's that time again! (If tigsource dies, this thread should keep on going until the end of civilization)

I always used to say that a smaller community is way more fun than a crowded one. If anyone remembers early day dota or league community as compared to the now toxic and overall unpleasant one. Maybe it's better to be less of us, or maybe it's cope.

Hey Noel,

I sent you an email at home at straycloud dot nz for the artist role.
Best of luck with the project!

I've decided on moving to Unreal. Here's the YouTube playlist I used to get started.
"How to leave unity."  Cheesy Cheesy
A description that I liked was using Unreal for small to medium projects (a Spelunky2 level of difficulty let's say) feels more like trying to hammer a nail with a sledgehammer. However there's a smaller chance for Unreal to pull any crap like Unity did because they are also risking the fire to spread on to epic games store.
9  Player / General / Re: Unity run time fee on: September 23, 2023, 02:55:34 AM
It's a shitfest.
I had a felling that this entire thing might be a super aggressive highballing tactic (which it seems to be after all) in order to sell or land the new offer that they just made. They don't care, or realize how much bad they did and how hard it's for them to regain any sort of trust at this point.
John Riccitiello is clearly approaching us as dumb kids that can't see through the bullshit, and I hope to god it won't stick. But I doubt they'll lose a significant nr of customers because people are way too invested in their projects... idk. It's such a dumb scenario and it saddens me that it might not bite them in the ass in the long run because ppl will still make them money.
I'm not the programmer in my team, I deal with art so unfortunately I don't know exactly how hard is to move to a new engine, but if it's possible I will push for permanently moving away from unity.
Also I hope Riccitiello will never find work again as a ceo or any leading position. People like him deserve no empathy.

Maybe Monogame will be a viable option for us, but we still need to see what it implies working with them.

"may I suggest writing your own tech"
I think that's a good step for when people already have at least one "successful" game out. It's a smaller chance to have invested all of that time for nothing.
11  Player / General / Unity run time fee on: September 14, 2023, 01:55:02 AM
I suppose a lot of you here got seriously screwed by Unity's dumbest decision ever to charge per installation.
I'm curious what are your plans moving forward?
Luckily we're in the prototyping phase, even if we have some of the code done. But for sure I won't accept this crap, so we might have to migrate to another engine ASAP, which is another headache to deal with...

I would strongly suggest to make a prototype with barebones art (or no art if possible so you avoid getting tunnel vision) and see if the gameplay works or how it feels like, before investing weeks/months/years into an untested product.
At first glance, there is potential to it. Best of luck!

That's a reasonable concern. Maybe the way to go would be to establish a policy of putting explicit images behind links instead of embedding them. I'll bring it up with the other moderators, and for now, suggest that the thread author make an edit to the first post here to require an extra click to view those last two images.
Thank you for trying to find a fix! Gentleman

I'm checking new posts via TigSource Forum > Recent Posts because is a convenient way of doing it, and having a chunky dick being slurped on the screen out of thin air is a bit tasteless as the little one can walk by at anytime. The NSFW tag doesn't hide the images in Recent Posts. But if I'm the only one seeing a problem with this I guess I'll check tig in a different manner.
15  Community / Townhall / Re: Lost In Endoria: A Monster Girl Harem [NSFW] on: August 16, 2023, 05:35:29 AM
I made a small modification to the thread title. Adult content is permitted on this forum as long as it's clearly marked.
Was this always the case, having nsfw in here?
16  Player / General / Re: Anigif Discotheque on: August 16, 2023, 03:40:56 AM
It may not look like much but I probably spent 100 hours making that video (I wanted to familiarize myself with avisynth and didn't have a job)
It's my new wake-up-and-start-the-day disco vid, so I don't know about it not being much.

You're not in the playboy mansion my horny guy. Keep NSFW visuals on the game page, not on display here, where we also have a young audience. Roll Eyes

Tbh the thing where posting in a thread here makes you permanently subscribed to it for the rest of your life probably significantly contributed to me not posting in many devlogs.

On top of each thread, above first post is a Sun Icon and it reads Notify. If you click on it you unsubscribe from that specific thread. Click again, and you resubscribe.

Yeah plenty of game dev discords are lively

Do you have any channels in mind worth checking out, besides Game Marketeers, Work With Indies, Playing Indies and Game Devs League. The downside of a discord imo is that you can't keep it as organized as a forum. Harder to navigate if you are not staying up to date regularly. But I see your argument for the more casual aspect of discord.
19  Player / General / Re: Is tigsource dead? on: August 14, 2023, 07:53:48 AM
I hope it's a just a momentarily set back. Old trends tend to come back and the indie space is a big deal, new and old devs will funnel back into tig eventually. Whoever is here still, should do an effort to keep it alive and going in the meantime.
It's an up-hill battle, true, but not impossible to win.
To me this space is packed with nostalgia, it helped me get through some critical points in my dev life, so I'll be here, keep the engagement going. If it's all for naught, well, at least I tried.

And if my game becomes a hit over night, then I'll have to do what all successful devs do, forget about this hellhole and get a slice of land next to notch.

And unclogs your mind so you can focus on making that game/prototype.
