Being able to climb in tight spaces like vents? Or just narrow areas in the environment like between platforms?
I had imagined it using its tentacles to reach around within vents and small spaces, not being able to climb effectively since it would predominately be a flying creature.

Btw, given how much thought you put into the species, have you thought about how exactly it stays airborne and flies around?
That's something I am really curious about.
This isn't how a bee's ability to fly baffles scientists-- it's like how does this creature literally fly?
Wings? Jet turbines? Do the tentacles rotate like a helicopter?
And if it has wings, they'd have to be pretty big, right?
Also, when it flies, the tentacles could, and this is just a thought, semi retract into its body for more aerodynamics-- you know, if they aren't the way it flies in the first palce.

So, I have had a thought, (and it is probably inspired by reading too many scott westerfeld books), but what if the kraken was a "hydrogen breather"? That would, (according to the laws of physics), negate the need for large wings. Maybe the central body could have hydrogen sacs. (Or another lighter-than-air gas). Just a thought. The current design is kinda hard to believe, given that the wings just don't look substantial enough.

Or, if this wouldn't work for the kraken, what about a smaller creature? Maybe something the size of a balloon, that would drift sedately just out of reach in the upper areas.

So, on a side note, any ETA on when we are going to have some slugcat pups? (Kits? If we are comparing them to weasels/ferrets.) It seems like there is a bunch of new stuff being added, but what I would really like to see right now are some more simple things, like what we saw in the original alpha. Slugcat pups, and also that nice curling up animation when the slugcat goes to sleep at the end of the videos.

I am going mad watching all the development. All those new regions.

Also AAAAAAAAAAH that thing is way longer than I anticipated! I really hope that there will be extensive, maze-like warrens of tunnels to hide in when that thing is around...

Agreed. I had imagined it smaller, with shorter tentacles. Then again, if you get to a T like passage, you could probably pin it down there with a spear. Given that the tentacles are so long, if it was shorter wouldn't it be easier to work with?

there have been some good debates about that on various message boards, my favorite one being one guy who argued *vigorously*, using footnotes, wikipedia links and and citations, that slugcat fur was similar to otter fur due to the way the slugcat looks when coming out of the water in one gif. i salute that man!  Beer!

Smiley Well, it seems that we may have to do some investigative work into the nature of slugcat appearance. Could someone give me a link to that message board? Also, great work on the Industrial guys, I can't wait to see some more. The sky kraken... dear god, I get my silly self killed fighting green lizards.

I second that.

(Oh, and first time on TIG, hi everyone.)
