hehe, i hope my "algorithm" gets you in a simple solution.
8  Developer / Technical / Re: Calling a function once, then never again while it still loops. on: May 04, 2015, 06:20:07 AM
Ok, but that has nothing to do with the topic, it doesn't change the behaviour of the coroutine right? or does it reset the timer?

9  Developer / Technical / Re: Calling a function once, then never again while it still loops. on: May 04, 2015, 06:07:55 AM
Well, You can save a boolean "hpDecreasing" and a float "startedDecreasing" and then when you left click, if hpDecreasing is false, set it true, set startedDecreasing for Time.time, and Start a Coroutine or an InvokeRepeating that every 1 second decreases the HP based on how much time passed (Time.time-startedDecreasing). If hpDecreasing is true, do nothing.

This way, you only start the coroutine/InvokeRepeating once and it takes into account the time that passed already.

this does what you said in the second paragraph,

What do you mean by "they get smaller", the player?, and the picking up /losing health when you pick up objects has nothing to do with this behaviour right?

This sure seems like too much code and too much confusion for what you want to implement.

What is exactly what you need? I'm sure there's someway easy to do it.
12  Developer / Technical / Re: Beginning Online Multiplayer Questions / Photon + Unity on: May 04, 2015, 02:55:36 AM
Hey, while developing King's madness i got a ton of xp with photon in unity, and what I did so that all actions, other than movement, were being done at the exact time in all clients, was give it 100ms lag on everyone, even on the one doing the action.

Players dont seem to notice their actions are delayed if the delay is constant, so you can do something like call the RPC giving the time u started it, and on your RPC you wait until its 100ms later than the call to do the action.

In case of a pong, the ball just changes direction on each wall, so you can do something like that, or you can just calculate the position for clients after each flip and put the ball there to make it exact.

I have no idea whose fault it is, but it sure sucks :X

Hello,

This game was made by 2 people for a 3 month game jam, It's a little bit broken, but we're trying to figure out if It's worth putting a little more work into it after the voting for the jam is over to make it a finished product, It's free, it will always be free, It was done off hours (we both have full time jobs) so we're not looking for money, we do it for the pleasure of it, you know the deal.

Tell us, what do you think? we already noticed a lot of bugs like some sprite layer issues, we actually uploaded the game without sound (nice one me), and on the multiplayer, the guys that aren't the server owner don't see the wave announcements and progression Sad, stuff we will fix after for sure, but do you think we should keep working on it or move on for something else?

Try out the game here very cute link

We didn't have time to put the "tutorial" ingame so here is a little explanation:

You have to try to survive the longest, kill/kite mobs.
Also you have hunger (second bar on the left) and thirst (third bar) so you gotta attack bushes for cherries (thirst/hunger) and eat the meat that the mobs drop.

WASD - Move
Space Bar - Roll
Shift - block
LEft click - Melee attack
Right click - Ranged attack

PS: If you wanna try out pvp, i advise you to not press the red button to start the waves of mobs Tongue, and people can only join your server until you press the red button.

Let us know how you like it and if you find even more bugs (it sure has a lot of them), it was our first try as a personal game Smiley (i already made games in an investigation center before)

Here are some screenshots and even a  video that a player made about it Tongue

Hello!

I'm Frederico Sousa,

Me:

I'm an informatics engineer from Portugal that worked for around 2 years "professionally" as game developer and now still works as an app maker in unity3d,

I was always a gamer and i always wanted to make games with people that know what they're talking about so recently i entered a 3 month Jam with some friends and we went full balista and are aiming at a co op survival rpg (3 months? with a full job? you're crazy! yes i am).

It's being my first experience in the indie scene and after 2 months I still think this is great and I'm enjoying the heck out of this.

I'm a programmer but thanks to a lot of years of work getting weirdly shaped/painted/edited images I'm now super experienced in photoshop, and thanks to being a perfecionist, I'm OK in unity's mecanim.

Right now all bets are on crash and burn but well, its our life right? part of the good part of being an indie is drinking the tears of the non-believers in the end.  Gomez Durr...?

I only recently learned about this forum and for what I lurked so far I think I'll enjoy it here.

I'm also livecoding (streaming on hitbox) most of the jam development so I really like to help other people with unity/coding issues, always liked it, always will.

Nice to meet you guys!
