Hey guys, here's a video showing our latest development with our game Dicetiny. In this amateurish video made with Power Director, a cheap movie making tool, and also one of the most annoying tools to work with, we show you new features like two dice, the shop, the temple, and neutral minions who you can either battle or bribe.
We're working on implementing the Shop which when you reach, you get greeted by this seemingly friendly looking old man (who will probably turn out to be greedy, and money grabbing once you get to know him better). You have a choice to buy, with your gold, one of the three minion/spell cards he offers, or you can just pass. So this will require some strategic thinking on how you manage your gold. Btw, these cards are just for temporary use so they're not actually Death Knight, lol
After the prototype testing, we added Shops, Quests, Townhouse, and Holy Fountain on the board. I think they fit quite nicely to the board. =) In shops, you can buy spell cards/minions, in Quests, you can get random quests after completely which, you get gold or even win the whole game. Townhouse is like the beginning space, and lastly on Holy Fountain, you can heal your HP once if you pay gold.
I was considering to do that but then I decided to not to because you can't monetize Instagram easily. Here's why:
visitors are mainly using mobile phones for sharing pictures (not many are interested in external content).
Instagram is not integrated well with gaming systems/consoles whereas Twitter, Facebook, Twitch are.
If your game is available on Steam, why not promote it in their?. The players there already have their credit cards in the system and are ready to buy a good game.
This is my opinion. Hope it helps.
Hey! Thank you for the comment. Steam is definitely a good place to show off your game, but we're developing a mobile game. I totally agree with your first point. Looks like people there only share their photos they took on their mobile phones.
Hey, no problem. Right, in the case of mobile games, I suggest to be on apps like Twitter, Tumblr and maybe Vine. I'm going to start a devlog topic about how I'm going to market my upcoming game (which is launching July 24) with some more details.
Cool! I will look forward to it! =) What's your game btw, do you have a trailer? [Edit] Ok I just watched it. I think being inside a comic book is a cool idea!
Hmm. Maybe there is a way to simulate that in the physical space? Like take it along to a meet and just not let the two people see each other. Haha. I feel like that would be a weird enough experience to be fun in its own right though. Have you done any online tests yet?
Nope. We haven't set up the servers yet. We're working on it. It would be fun to do a prototyping test, two people being in two different rooms while communicating with Walkie Talkies with the game master, lol.
It was cool! It saves time because you can just apply your design and test without coding. Only problem though, we can mistakenly think the game's fun when the only reason it's fun is because we're playing it face to face, and we know each other. It's whole different story when players play it online with strangers.
Hey guys! Me and my folks are developing a mobile game called Dicetiny
Do you mean your parents, because that would be badass! The game looks really slick though!
Oh..folks mean parents? English is my second language, so I get confused sometimes. Man, I sent hundreds of email saying I'm making this game with my folks, they must think I'm making it with my parents! Oh well...
I tried this many times but in most cases, your call goes automatically into their voice machine. One time kept trying to reach Gamespot, and finally I was able to reach one of the editors. I asked him if he read my email, and said he would check, and that was the end of the story.
Damn, please, add a he-man parody and take our money, guys (or this chunk of grass... not sure about this emoji) Love all cameos and references in videogames
Would love to add this animation for when the hero levels up or goes into some kind of frenzy mode.
Love the art and the central idea (: We followed you through the Kickstarter. By "we" I mean BeautiFun Games studio (we're working now on: www.megamagicgame.com)
It was surpising the cancel because of the unexpected partnership. But also it was awesome news! Congratz on that anyway you will keep the cross-promotions you had built so far? I can remember Shovel Knight and Battle Chef Brigade at least.
Please, share more media. We would love to see vids, GIFs and IMGs of Dicetiny <3
Best regards,
The Megamagic Dude
Thanks! About cross-promo, we put it on hold because it may be a problem with us having a financial partner and all. That was one of the reasons we canceled the campaign along with the fact that we switched our platform from PC to mobile. (Btw we can't thank enough all those guys who let us do cross-promo with them.)
Btw, I really like the trailer of Mega Magic! Are you guys fans of Heeman by any chance? lol We're actually thinking about parodying Heeman for a rival figure of the conan guy or something.
"Long time ago, ancient kings found a divine board, and they were given dice created by gods known as DICETINY. Three to the Elves, seven to the Dwarves, and nine to the Humans. They coexisted in peace, but one day a rumor began to spread that there was one die that ruled them all. Wars raged, and thousands of lives were lost before peace was restored.
Thousand of years passed, and the existence of DICETINY were forgotten from the creatures. However, two great wise men found two DICETINY, and the dark side of DICETINY corrupted one of them. He began to call himself "Dead Serious" and his evil mind began to threaten the world peace. The other wise man believes that only the ONE DIE that rules the rest can save the world from him, so goes on a journey. He arrives in a village and so the story begins..."
Hey guys! Me and my folks are developing a game called Dicetiny: The Lord of the Dice aiming to release it sometime in 2016. Dicetiny is a Card-boiled RPG Under the Influence where epic fantasy and humorous parodies coexist in peace (most of the times). We're using Unreal Engine 4 to develop the game.
Player will have two types of cards, minion cards, and spell cards. Minion cards can be placed on the board, and some of the minions have different abilities that are triggered in certain situations such as when they get summoned on the board, meet a friendly minion, die, and etc.
Our latest video shows how minions with Taunt and Range work.
What about reddit? I don't personally use it, but it only takes one redditer who likes something to make it uber popular. I think people frown on self promotion, so posting on there should sound something like, "Hey, look at this cool game I found." < but not sounding so fakely generic. Obviously you'd look suspicious if you only have one post there, so you should spend a week just hanging out.
Yeah, I hang around on reddit time to time. One subreddit I really want to promote my game on is /gaming but the rules there appear to be more strict than other as mine always gets taken down, so I usually hang around in /gamedev or /indiegaming. To be honest, I'm not too comfortable doing that "Hey check out this game" thing. I think maybe I will ask one of our fans to do it later. Cheers!

My guess is most of you probably already have Facebook or Twitter so you can promote your game and get connected with the players, but are you guys also using Instagram? I read the news sometime ago that in terms of user number it has surpassed Twitter but I rarely see anyone using it as a marketing tool for their games. The reason I'm asking you btw is because my team asked me (I'm in charge of marketing and community managing) to consider having one but I don't think it's worth the time. Also I noticed that you can only upload images from your phone, not from the pc, so I think it's only good for sharing selfies and stuff. I'm very new to Instagram btw.) Anyhow what do you think guys?
