Maybe you're aware that Epic Mickey 2 is in the works, but it's been confirmed that 3DS will get an exclusive version, a 2D platformer with hand-drawn sprites, as a follow up to the Genesis game Castle of Illusion.

http://ds.about.com/b/2012/03/26/epic-mickey-power-of-illusion-preview-courtesy-of-nintendo-power.htm

"Power of Illusion is being put together by DreamRift, the studio behind 2011's Monster Tale for the Nintendo DS. The game, which is its own side-scrolling, platforming title (instead of a mere port of The Power of Two), is a follow-up to Epic Mickey, but more interestingly, it's also a follow-up to Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, a 1990 game for the Sega Genesis!

Power of Illusion will make heavy use of the Nintendo 3DS's stylus. By tapping the item icons exist in every level, you'll be able to "paint" (trace) those items into existence, including cliffs, cannons, and floating platforms. The more precisely you trace, the better for Mickey. A flawlessly-painted canon will only damage Mickey's enemies, for instance, but if you mess up the painting, the canon will be a danger to everyone in the area."

"Sometimes you'll need to erase objects, which is done by spreading thinner. Again, the stylus comes into play here.

The hand-drawn sprites in Power of Illusion are extremely compelling, and, thanks to scrolling parallax backgrounds (a heavily-used graphic technique in the days of 16-bit gaming), reportedly look great in sterescopic 3D. Even better, every level in the game is based on an animated Disney adventure, from "Sleeping Beauty" to "Tangled" and lots in between. "

"As a final declaration of oldschool love, every character that Mickey saves in Power of Illusion will take up residence in the fortress that Mickey uses as his home base, a confirmed nod to the esteemed Suikoden RPG series. Sometimes you find references in the unlikeliest of places, but that's part of what makes video games fun. Right?

There's no release date set for Power of Illusion (Fall 2012 is a general target), but expect lots more information on this game as the weeks march on like Mouseketeers."

Man, sounds nice.

Has anyone played any of the Freedom Force games? Which one of the two should I buy?

I'm thinking about the first one because, well, it's the first one and I want to know the story, it'd be weird just jumping on the second game. Apparently the sequel isn't remarkably different gameplay-wise.

Man, those look good. Can't believe I never knew about them.

I don't and it's weird since it's currently the 3DS' biggest title apparently. I'm just not into shooters that aren't shmups.
124  Player / Games / Re: A Console from the Past; What was your Favorite? on: March 24, 2012, 01:08:48 PM
I think N64.

I always struggle deciding my favorite old console, but almost always the NES and N64 come on top, with PS1 and SNES not being very far.

Mostly games. Super Mario 64, Fighters Destiny 1 and 2, Paper Mario, Diddy Kong Racing, Super Smash Bros., Perfect Dark, Hybrid Heaven, Bomberman 64, F-Zero X, Kirby 64, Killer Instinct Gold, Mario Golf, Mischief Makers, Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness, Pokémon Stadium 2, StarFox 64, Flying Dragon, Mace: The Dark Age, etc.

I loved the N64 controller, and you could use 4 of them by default. It using cartridges, my launch N64 still works, while I don't even know where is my broken PS1 that got repaired at least twice.

Not perfect by any means, and it lost lots of awesome exclusives that I loved on PS1, like the Tekken series and... well, most fighters and RPGs. But overall I had more fun with my N64 and it made me have a more diverse taste, since back in the SNES days I played mostly fighters.

I bought it because I had still to play something decent on my tablet that wasn't freemium shovelware (except for that beta version of Astronaut which was actually fun, but that's not on Android Market Google Play Durr...?).

Avadon is good, but it has some issues. It's rather slow paced and not very flashy looking - I can completely understand those, though. The thing is, it kind of sucks that you can't zoom the screen. On my Sony Tablet S (9.4" display) the buttons are tiny, same with the characters and the grid, so it's easy to miss what you want to "click", resulting in wasted turns or wrong menus.

Canabalt is fun, but it has crashed plenty of time on my tablet. I'll try the rest later today.

Well, it's officially Nintendo's fastest selling system ever. It's just a matter of time before it has a DS-like library, the DS also took time to become such a great system.

^ I remember loving the NES games, that's why I decided to try the GB version Tongue

One year after the 3DS launch and I currently have 7 retail games, 7 VC games and 2 3DSWare games. Not bad at all, especially when there are plenty of games I'm looking forward to. Not Kid Icarus, though, doesn't seem like my kind of game.

Is any of those games good? Avadon looks okay. My tablet is really lacking in the game department.

I know, and some of them are most likely not getting localized, like Azito 3D Cry

It's the only thing I really dislike about my 3DS. And Nintendo is keeping it for WiiU as well.

I bought Pokémon Rumble Blast for real cheap, it's absolutely worth it. It's Gauntlet meets Pokémon. Gameplay is very simple, but with 600+ possible characters, with different movesets, it doesn't get stale that quickly. And since it doesn't lack one single pokémon, you get to play as your favorite one even if it's an obscure, non-protagonist one. Recommended if you can find it for cheap and like Pokémon and/or Gauntlet-ish games.

There's Red Rescue Team for GBA, which is easy to emulate. I'd be up for that.
132  Player / Games / Re: PS Vita on: March 19, 2012, 12:28:46 PM
That's the thing, I've tried mostly "traditional" games with virtual buttons, and I'm personally not a big fan of those. Mega Man? Street Fighter? Crazy

I'll check the iOS recommendation thread, but I honestly don't expect anything like my favorite games on other systems. Like Mr. Sanders said, tastes may vary Tongue
133  Player / Games / Re: PS Vita on: March 15, 2012, 09:29:40 PM
I really love my iPod Touch and can't see myself using other music player, but I genuinely didn't think people bought it for gaming Tongue Maybe I've just played sucky games on it.
134  Player / Games / Re: Nintendo 3DS on: March 15, 2012, 06:45:48 PM
Today we got 3 Game Gear games in America. Don't care about Sonic Triple Trouble (I think that's the name) and Dragon Crystal (uh... I also think that's the name), but I may buy Shinobi. Doesn't look very good, though, I'll emulate it a bit and decide if I want it or not.

Also, I bought Adventure Island for the VC, and I don't regret it but it's not as good as I thought it'd be. Level design is pretty bland. It's a shame because there are plenty of worth playing GB games and I bought this... well, I guess I regret it a bit.

Kid Icarus: looks shooter-ish, I'm not sure if I'll buy it. Most likely not, I'll borrow it from a friend or something.

Fire Emblem: Yes, please, come soon to America. Looks fantastic so far.

Everyone (except Europe people) need to buy Mutant Mudds, I can't decide if I like it better than Pushmo. I guess I do.

@Wade: I was just playing your game on my tablet a couple of hours ago. Let me know when it's finished Smiley

Zelda? How about the TG16 clone,

instead?

Well, I guess it defeats the point since I doubt Neutopia is on anyone's backlog Durr...?

You know, I'd be more likely to consider it if I didn't live in Mexico. And if I had a more "relaxed" job, I currently work at government of Estado de México, it's kind of not an option at all.
138  Player / General / Re: Tattoos on: March 12, 2012, 06:22:54 PM
I don't think I'd ever get one. The fact that I'm a huge Kirby fanboy for example, doesn't mean I want Kirby on my skin, it's not even the fact that I may stop liking it at some point in my case.

They look cool in other people, I just don't think I'd like on me. Kind of like piercings and dyed hair in that sense.
139  Hidden / Game Club / Re: Group Anti-Backlog Game Playing on: March 12, 2012, 10:49:43 AM
Sounds fun, something I like about playing new games is that there's a community of people playing it. It kind of adds to the experience.
