Looks good enough for me, and I'm glad the shops are inside the Pokémon Centres now. No matter how deep the system is it does get boring and tedious. Lots of text and repetitive animations. I always turn the animations off, the game is faster that way, and I don't really mind text I would like 3D battles, more two-on-two or more battles (even against wild pokemon), and it would potentially be cool if your pokemon learnt what to do based on your guidance then you could tell them to get on with it instead of having to instruct every little thing (a more genuine form of training). That'd be a problem, since you don't always want your Pokémon to do the same thing. You need to save PPs, so you don't always have to use the "super effective" move. You may want to change your Pokémon based on predictions, use an item, etc.

Pokémon is hugely successful, I don't think changing a lot of things would be a good idea. And to be honest, I'm fine with that, I'm having a really good time playing SoulSilver, a remake of a 10 years old game. I'm so glad this is for DS and not for 3DS, it's just like Gold/Silver; those could be played either on Gameboy or Gameboy Color. I just hope the grass starter is awesome

5th Generation Pokémon Black & White versions announced for DS. Freaking awesome! I'm getting white. Also, I just got GB Sounds, it makes the game 100 times better.

Street Combat (SNES) Street Combat was a pretty weird fighter; you had to jump by pressing A or B (I don't remember), and there were only two playable characters for "story" mode: Steven and Steven with armor. Later I discovered it was originally a Ranma 1/2 game that got localized as a brand new game. It was pretty bad, but I had a lot of fun playing it.

^ I hate when that happens, I had and impish Pachirisu in Pearl. I thought he was just sucky (he is), but it was extra sucky because of that. I beat Elite Four last night, it wasn't as difficult as I thought. My team was: Meganium (41), Noctowl (41), Hypno (41), Ampharos (41), red Gyarados (41), Lugia (45). I can see why Lugia is banned in tournaments, it can single handedly destroy Koga and Bruno. Now I'm going to Kanto

- Competitive play: I started gaming because of Street Fighter II when I was a kid, and I used to play mostly fighters back in the SNES era. I really love the competitive aspect of games, the variety of characters with different abilities, attending tournaments, etc. Same with getting a good score in Tetris, time trials in Mario Kart, etc.
- Sense of progress: I played Pokémon SoulSilver 8 hours straight yesterday, there's something really fun and satisfying about progressing in a game. Capturing more Pokémon, evolving them, earning badges, etc. That's mostly why I play RPGs, I don't even mind grinding. Same with games like Mega Man where you gradually get new skills.
- Platformness: Yup, I invented that word. Platformers are my favorite kind of games, but I can't really explain why. I'd say it's all about exploration, but I like linear games like the 2D Marios. Challenge is important too, but I can enjoy both a difficult and an easy platformer. I never play attention to the score, so I really don't know why I love platformers, I just find them fun. That's it, they're fun.
Also, the fact that video games are video games and not any other form of entertainment makes them more interesting to me. Pixels, sprites, polygons, chiptune music, goals, lifes, timers, cheats, secret areas - I absolutely love that.

I want a Hypno in my team, so I caught a Drowzee. His nature was "naive" (-Special Defense, +Speed). Seriously, that's the absolute WORST nature possible for a Drowzee, I had to catch 6 Drowzees more until I got a "quirky" one. And that's not that awesome either. Oh, and it sucks that you can't buy TMs for Thunder/Ice/Fire Punch anymore
