banning due to voicing one's opinion = un-american i think killing is wrong, but you have to be a grade a idiot to really honestly think super joe is some 'death-worshipping bigot.' to get back on topic: killing is wrong. i've said my piece. this is an outrage. i am quite dissatisfied with this world. i am going to undertake the most potent form of activism against this and post about it on an indie games forum... love for all. peace on earth.

it's actually a lot easier to play without installing that font.
as i was saying earlier, what makes backtracking unbearable is the combination of
A) no progression
and
B) having to overcome the same obstacles
almost counterintuitively, if you were to, say, add more enemies to your backtracking path as the game progresses, the backtracking would be less bearable.
which is why for a game in which the backtracking is supposed to be as bad as i can be, i would suggest to add more obstacles (ESPECIALLY timed ones, i.e. a flame thrower that shoots a flame for 3 seconds and then doesn't for 3 seconds). remember those three bunnies that you kill at the beginning of the game? have them spawn each time.
the more inane obstacles you have to go through each time the better it is

oh right, let me ignore the part where the game is about christmas. and involves a lot of backtracking. also the words 'metal gear solid' are in the OP as well. WA WA WE WO.
if any of those three things weren't the case, THEN MAYBE you'd maybe have a point. a game that's a satire on backtracking wouldn't be about christmas.

get your sperge on:
fallout 2/fallout 3/oblivion/morrowwind: if you like elves, or space elves then get ready to spend a thousand years murdering them!!!
disgaea series: go from level 1 to level 9999! if you like japanese animes this is your number one bet!
chrono trigger: NEW GAME+ let's do the timewarp again
aquaria: you are a mermaid that swims around oceans full of life and slowly strip them of it.
dead rising: level up and learn new ways to kill zombinos, but then attempt the zombie genocide achievement and get bored with the game before you even realize that the last battle in the game is you punching a guy on a tank.
boner/borderlands: play the game again and get slightly better weapons that do +1 more damage than they did the first time around.

@inane
no offense to you and your invaluable, precious time, but what the heck are people really supposed to discuss in a thread that's more or less a 'missed connections' post on craigslist? surely the OP could've just responded to the thread in which he first offered services -- you know, the thread that this mysterious RTS designer had first found out about him, instead of, you know, making a discussion topic on a discussion forums that is literally impossible to discuss?

just throwing it out there that using "pretentiousness" as an argument really gets us nowhere.
just throwing it out there that if the only word your nerdy little eyes could hone in on was 'pretentiousness,' and that the weight of that single word created an black hole from which your gaze could not escape... welp. it only proves what i have been saying

So if he sees Sin City and it's being marketed as a comic, he'd probably not put it into the same shelf as he'd put serious books
you're right, he'd probably not put picture books in the big kid books section aaaaa coming up with a new word doesn't solve anything, and if anything, and clamoring for a new word just comes off as haughty and pretentious. the word 'game' has the connotation of being childish or superficial, and i get the feeling that most of the nerds who are DEMANDING THIS MATTER TO BE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY are just embarrassed to be so invested something that's seen that way. but to separate games from art games is ridiculous in the same way you don't separate games from racing games, or games from action games. just because you like to think that your 'art' (aaaaaaaaaa) should be more regarded than racing, or action games because of its DEEP EMOTIONAL IMPACT AND THE WAY IT MAKES YOU REALLY LOOK AT LIFE INTROSPECTIVELY; TO CONSIDER THE HUMAN CONDITION, doesn't make it any less of a game fundamentally. the addition of pretentious bullshit to game does not make it not a game. but if all else fails pigscene came up with the word gamepiece and i think that's a pretty good word wa wa wo

Just one more thing, I got debbuger version, what can I do with it?
Maybe you two can make this kid a little happier in christmas!
Later I'll try the ' thing just like the console in TU.
it's not really a 'debugger' version -- basically the reason it does what it does is because the code (stupidly) was written like this: (if ~ held, show tile coordinates) (if ~ not held, hide tile coordinates) and i accidentally commented out both lines, meaning that the tile coordinates were neither hidden nor shown, so they defaulted to being shown. the game's level format is the same the underside's but you have to do a little playing around to get that working. i wouldn't suggest trying to mod the game though -- it's a terrible engine.
