I put together a quick car overnight. It's got all the basics, but still missing a few other things I will add later.

I stayed up all night making this cinematic demo featuring a quick mockup of a futuristic city.

If you have interest in this project, you can become a pre-kickstarter supporter at the following link.

You will also be invited to Gamecraft's official discord server for real-time updates, screenshots, and demos I am currently making with it.

It looks interesting. Looks very... animated as others have pointed out.

What will be the goal of this game? Will there be trade and commerce? Conquering other countries? Or is it just mostly nature simulator?

I like the way you cut out a hole in the land, the water came pouring but sand arose, creating a mini island.

Very cool stuff, especially the dark level with glowing greens. I really like Spyro. Might make my own clone at one point in the future. It was a good game.

Added new things:

Gamecraft, my home brew game engine has seen a significant improvement. This pushed Mirrorgate's progress a bit forward, too.

The next milestone for this project, will be implementing sprite animator in Gamecraft for this and some of my other game projects.

Significant improvements have been added to the Gamecraft tool, which consequently led to progress on church wars engine.

Unfortunately, old videos got deleted and that ruined a lot of the previews from this feed.

But fear not... There will be a separate church wars youtube channel.

Also... church wars is now officially a "working" code name of the project... actual name will be different.

Gamecraft can now automatically generate collision layer over a bit masked tile map.

Gamecraft is the "Photoshop for making games" (or Gameplay Painter/Sketcher) tool I've been working on for months, to create an engine for my own games.

It started turning out into something interesting and I plan a public KickStarter release, for supporters who have faith in this project.

How it works: It's aim is to utilize memory-allocated "infinite" grid as a canvas for creating games in any genre. At first, no 3D (although the way it's built will naturally expand in 3D, in due time.) The first two genres covered will be platformer and RPG, providing tools for terrain generation, character dialog UI, extensive tilemap worlds, in-engine sprite editor + animator, random city generators (future.)

If this piques your interest, please join https://discord.gg/JVKEBxa <<< Official Gamecraft Discord server to keep up with changes & make feature requests.

This is a very early stage of a drop-in vehicle simulator. The entire city map was designed in and imported from Blender. But there are plans for including an in-engine city generator as well, based on my current experiments. (Still learning street architecture design.)

My other dev logs here are Mirrorgate and Church Wars. These projects have temporarily come to a halt, until Gamecraft catches up with the tech. required to bring those projects to fruition.

Today marks another huge day for Gamecraft!

1. added blur shader.
2. added off-screen frame buffer rendering.

it's not perfect yet but it's a matter of time until the easy parts get fixed up....this lays a foundation for future shader effects...

We are still looking for people who are in the middle of developing a game, or someone who is about to, or just posted an EA title. Share, promote, get together with other indies, that's what we're all about. Hope to see more people joining. Everyone's welcome. :-)

17  Community / Townhall / Join Gamedev Cafe, a Discord chat community of likeminded game developers! on: January 02, 2018, 11:26:26 AM
Hey guys,

I am an owner of a small indie studio. Two years ago I started a FFA gamedev community on Discord.

It's really small, but we focus on nurturing a community of actual game developers who are passionate about the craft of making games.

We are hosting Gamedev Cafe https://discord.gg/5KW6rvp chat every day with many talented game developers sharing their experience and helping each other out with questions.

Come meet others to showcase your work, or just hang out and meet someone new.

Hope to see someone new there Smiley

Latest version of Gamecraft 0.0.16 is here!

It's a small update, but it includes:

0. Ability to switch between tile sets: normal square view vs. bitmasked
1. Better project loading/saving interface (the tile set can now be saved per project).
2. Added tile set brush (beyond just 1x1 tile) presets.
3. Added a blank window for tile set editor to be implemented later

Gamecraft 0.0.15, the tool used to create the upcoming Chuch Wars game has been released.

This update includes a new tile world settings window when creating a new project.
