Disagree. Learning how to see projects through to the end is one of the most important things in any creative field.

Yes, i too think it is very important. But above all other things, having fun and experimenting i think is what keeps the community charming and active.

Also, i think is healthier and more effective in the long run to only finish the games you feel like finishing.

I think that starting ten projects and finishing none may be a more effective learning experience than finishing a doom clone you didn't even want to start on the first place.

Gonna have to disagree with you here, I think I've learned more forcing myself to try finish my game than I ever would have learned starting 100 projects and not seeing them through.

Risen 2 when came out was already "old" and wrong in so many modern design: the combat system was from the 90'Gothic, exploits in the combat system, the progression was too slow, the dialogs were very basic to say a few. I quite enjoyed the world and the exploration, and I could understand that your budget in animation is not great, but at least I can't understand why Piranha bytes do not take examples from the games in the market today.

I think the world and story in Elex are great (and the voice acting is deliciously bad). But it's exactly like you say, the combat system is janky AF because apparently they want you to feel weak at first, they accomplish this by making it impenetrable. The idea is since you're so weak you'll run around exploring and doing social quests until you've levelled enough to handle the enemies. Problem is, the rewards for level are so minute that you'd have to spend countless hours doing them just to be able to level you're skills enough to do any damage what so ever. There's a disconnect there too, what does running around talking to people have to do with combat proficiency? And why does actual combat net you less experience than grabbing a dude a beer? I mean, the game isn't telling you so much that they want you to explore the world as they are telling you that combat is useless and a complete waste of your time...

Yeah, the sooner I have this game in my life the happier I'll be.

Tried playing DMoM&M recently, I remember loving it when it came out but now? Woof. It's pretty rough.

I got murdered in DD:DA by a 3 headed snake after wandering around in the dark for what felt like hours. Never had the heart to pick it up again.

Finished Persona 4 Golden. That's a monster of an RPG, eh? Almost 90 hours to mainline it. (Seriously, it's DESTROYED my productivity for the last few months). Blink

Plan on starting Steam World Heist next. Excite!

Oh, and Elex can die in a fire. I'm all for games that need to be played a specific way, but if there's only one right way to play your game and a million wrong ways and you don't explain that in any way shape or form then how the hell do you expect people to enjoy your game?

I think there might of been a bit more to it than that.

I'm even more confused now.  Shrug Cheesy

There's an in-joke here I'm not getting ... Can someone explain?

Looking pretty solid, man. Come a long way from the squares and rectangles you started with. Coffee

The Witcher 3 and Kingdoms of Amalur if you like action.

I can second both of these. Witcher 2 is still super solid as well.

no its this

I meant "this" about what you posted. I was using Spider-man to further prove the point.

This is what happens when you put socially awkward nerds in charge of figuring out what's cool...

No one mentioned 'FEZ' yet. It is a really neat game, but the dev was crazy enough for some drama on the internet XD
The game is awesome though, and was sold with humble bundle many times

That's because Fez wasn't made by one dude ...

I really need to play Nier... Maybe I'll get around to it when I'm done Persona4.

i was cleaning my hard drive and found this pic from ninja theory speak on their creative vision of DMC series that speaks for itself

I don't see how this is any worse than original creative vision for the series tbh.
58  Player / Games / Re: buy Yakuza 0 on pc or be put to the sword on: October 01, 2018, 11:11:17 AM
yakuza 0 is like a jrpg, but instead of being bad they decided to make it good instead

Here's a back of the box quote if ever I've seen one.

I bought both collections on PS2 when they came out and I can honestly say ... I don't get it; I do not understand the appeal of these games.
