Best pagebreak of 2011.

I've always thought of Tears For Fears as a pop band; Wikipedia says they were associated with New Wave initially though.

Oh man, this Harvey Milk record is both the business and the sauce.

Oh man, yes. Also, fuck drawing fire. Fuck it to death, in hell, forever.

I cannot wait for the pop music that makes Jessie J look charming.

Today, amongst others, I have been reminding myself why I never found the heart to ditch all these Wildhearts records.

NICE. The gold pauldron especially.

Two years and change in a relationship, which has been long-distance for much of that - I live in York, she was finishing her MA down in Norwich when we met, then got a year-long internship with the Wordsworth Trust up in Grasmere straight after graduation, then got a completely, irresistibly excellent job offer in Oxford, where she's been since early March. I'm currently looking for work down there so I can move  - in theory I should be able to keep freelancing wherever I am, but in practice something like this needs some capital and a reliable backup plan.

According to Hugh Hefner, the lower boundary for "appropriate age" is half your age plus seven, rounded down.

this is better than all dubstep combined

that is all

I am not a huge fan of dubstep, but it's certainly nothing like the unmitigated shitbomb of that track.

Practice, man. All it is. Plus, I found that once I'd surmounted the hurdle of not looking at my hand whilst drawing, my life-drawing skills went through the roof. It was like the Drawing Fairy visited in my sleep and sprinkled my pillow with uncut cocaine.

However, stuff like the above - hard, geometric forms with straight edges and gradient colouration - is exactly the kind of thing that a mouse will shit on a tablet for drawing, forever.

I thought the DS version was reviewing pretty well? Sega definitely need that license taking off them immediately, of course; the unplayable trainwrecks of the Iron Man tie-ins should've been enough. Making one game where you are Iron Man and somehow making it no fun at all is unfortunate. Two starts to look like malice.

I should probably do more traditional drawin' considering how heavily digital my work process has been over the last eight years or so. I remember I was commissioned to do a Proper On Canvas And Everything painting back in 2009; worked up a sketch, transferred the design to the canvas, and realised I had forgotten half of everything I ever knew about Actual Liquid Paint.

Plus, like, there's no layers or History pane or Warp tool or curves or anything. It's like living in a goddamn cave.

hmm, maybe the highlights are a bit much?

I'd knock 'em back a bit on the wings and the red dealies on the shoes, but they're otherwise fine.

Also, for those who haven't seen. The

(I'm assuming when the game updates itself at startup, it added her dlc stuff in), although you can tell it's not done (she's missing her swords in her fatality for starters). Also, there's a voice clip for Fujin at the select screen, so I'm willing to guess he's next.

Blimey. Even by the stunningly misogynistic standards of MK's female character design, that really is something.

"What should we have this terrifying assassin wear?"
"A ninja mask!"
"...OK, what else?"
"Ummmm...a hand-towel."
"We are the kings of design."

"Brostep" is the second most hateful name for a genre I think I've ever heard. The most hateful goes to the band Loss Of A Child, who released a really good EP a couple of years ago that was tagged as "Post-Alternative" in the genre field. *vomits*

Hey, who's on Last.fm? I am!

I was down the pub last night and heard somebody explaining the AV situation thusly:

Quote
Right, ten people want to go for a drink. Two want to go to the Three Legged Mare. Two want to go to Pivni, two want to go to The House of Trembling Madness, one sad fucker wants to go to Yates'...and the last three want to go to Costa Coffee. So we're all going for coffee. Thanks, No voters!
Wait, so everyone's second choice in this metaphor was Costa?

This particular metaphor is dependent on the fact that the first four are York pubs (should've made that clear, I suppose). Costa got more votes than any of the other options, and thus wins in FPTP, but fewer votes than "we do not want a coffee, and would prefer to get a beer", which would've carried one way or the other under AV.

Sorry dude, that's more likely down to fallible ol' human nature. It's incredibly rare that something I draw looks exactly how it does in my head. Practice practice practice.

It won't load for me for some reason, but if any of the other games on the Marvel site are anything to go by, can I assume it's nice-looking and competently put together but kind of crappy?

So, kind of like the Thor movie, I suppose?
