1  Jobs / Collaborations / [Funding] Seeking 2d Environment Artist on: December 02, 2018, 05:39:12 AM

Illuminated Games are in need of an artist to help create hand-drawn tilesets for "The Next World: Visitor", a first-person sci-fi dungeon crawler in the The Next World franchise.

We are an established indie studio with multiple released games and DLC under our belt. We're in talks with several publishers, and our goal right now is to build a convincing pitch demo in order to secure funding.

Must be able to roughly style-match the environments of The Next World. ( https://store.steampowered.com/app/427860/The_Next_World/ )

Here is a video of our alpha build with temp art: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eg39z68ody1o6o8/DunCrawl%20181118_054545.mp4?dl=0

Compensation will depend on the level of funding we can secure, which will depend directly on our artist's quality and dedication.
2  Jobs / Offering Paid Work / [CLOSED] Seeking pixel environment artist(s) on: August 23, 2018, 06:33:19 PM
A client of mine is currently hiring environment artists to provide a significant quantity of high-detail 16-bit pixel art.

An example of the desired level of detail:

The project is a farming sim in the style of Stardew Valley / Harvest Moon, working title "Coppersim Cove". It is currently in early alpha.

This is a paid position, exact compensation to be negotiated. We're looking for consummate professionals who can consistently deliver quality work.

To apply, send me a PM or post here on the thread. Message must include a link to your portfolio.

More than once I've been hired to sort out projects which others couldn't.

Some of my previous titles include:
Mount&Blade

Illuminated Games is seeking a 2d cartoon-style artist for a small job on a DLC package for cult hit "The Next World", entitled "Rocketship".

We are content-complete on this DLC, currently in the beta-testing stage. A release is planned later this month. All we need now is some art.

The job entails designing approximately 18 square/rectangular starship parts, as seen in these alpha screenshots:

The art style of these pieces will need to roughly match that of "The Next World"'s other game art.

Applicant's Qualities:
- Can quickly create unique and visually distinct designs.
- Can self-motivate to deliver a high-quality product.
- Has strong communication skills and a good command of English.

Compensation:
$100 total for all designs, plus a ~$50 package of permanent Steam keys for other titles by AAD Productions.

Project Description:
"The Next World" is a visual novel/strategy hybrid in the vein of The Banner Saga, King of Dragon Pass and Oregon Trail. The "Rocketship" DLC introduces a new path to victory by allowing the player to build their own starship in order to escape from their hostile new planet.

This position has been filled and is no longer available.

8  Jobs / Offering Paid Work / [CLOSED] Hiring 2d Artist/Animator on: November 15, 2017, 11:41:34 AM
Following the successful release of our latest project, Golem Creation Kit, Illuminated Games (developers of The Next World, TNW: Planetary Exploration, and more) is gearing up for a brand new adventure, bigger and better than before.

The project is titled THAT OLD FEAR: THE STRANGE WAR.

We're seeking skilled 2d artist/animators to help define the core look of the game's characters and enemies, and create a bizarre future the likes of which have never been seen before.

DESCRIPTION:
A soldier in the year 2037 is sent home from fighting a war in another dimension. He tries to pick up his daily life while haunted by flashbacks from fighting strange beings with strange weapons in a strange place that doesn’t quite obey the laws of physics.

TOF is a narrative sci-fi adventure with action/horror elements, with a story by veteran game writer Ryan A. Span (Mount&Blade;, FRONTIERS, The Next World, Golem Creation Kit).

QUALITIES:
- Be an up-and-comer with drive and ambition.
- Be able to design and animate isometric characters to a high degree of quality.
- Can work within the constraints of the indie development cycle.
- Can self-motivate and work hard to deliver a high-quality product.
- Be a team player with great communication skills.

3d experience is a plus but not required.

Work communication will take place over Discord, with no exceptions.

This position is closed and we are no longer considering new applicants.

We now have something that will communicate the game far better than any trailer or screenshot -- you can actually play it.

A content-limited demo is up for download, featuring 8 of our 25 golems and 3 days of the campaign.

Among other things, the final release will have two additional gameplay modes: Endless and Strip Mine. In Endless you can find out how far you can get with ever-more-difficult combinations of enemies; in Strip Mine, items do not regenerate day after day, forcing you to budget carefully even as you try to get the right combination of ingredients into your cauldron. And for a real challenge, you can enable them both...

We may even add an Ironman mode. Let us know if that's something you would want.

Here's hoping you'll give the demo a try and that you enjoy it!

10  Community / Townhall / [Greenlight] Golem Creation Kit - Pixel art drag/drop crafting game - New demo! on: May 22, 2017, 04:23:44 PM
Hullo everyone, new member here, never posted before but figured it was about time to come out of my shell.

I've been developing indie games for a number of years and have now got a new one to show. It's a little story-driven drag-and-drop game called Golem Creation Kit. It was made in Ren'Py in about 4 months, with me doing all code and writing, supported by some extremely talented artists and sound people.

We just hit Steam Greenlight, so please check it out -- and if you like it, I hope you'll consider giving us a thumbs up!
