Player / General / Re: Why are so many Computer Scientists and Software Engineers anti social?

Still computer sciences are more solitary based than many other types of work, which is appealing to introverted types, even when they have developed or are forced to develop social skills (which is a good thing for them to do anyway). Mind you, introverts can flourish in social situations - WHEN they are around people they feel comfortable with. And they can certainly be really good at getting to know people as the introverted communication style is more focused on listening and observing.
Anti-social's primary meaning is "against society" denoting a more destructive and unacceptable behavior, not just merely someone who doesn't like socializing with others all that much.

So far in LDs I was always just the design/graphics/mood guy, this year going solo and will attempt to tackle programming. Need to build experience with c# anyway (unity), so hopefully can get something functional done. I actually like the theme, it lends itself easily to relatively simple ideas.

Very cute, nice Kirby vibe. I like how clear it all is. The name is problematic though, words like master, mastery - are quite evocative of toughness, grittiness... doesn't fit with the feel of the game.

Zelda Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask both strike me as somewhat poetic, maybe it's due to their melancholic undertones. Poetry and melancholy often go hand in hand.
Journey, and other stuff by thatgamecompany feels poetic, they often strike emotional responses easily, even without words, they have a certain rythm.

I feel that getting inspiration from something != copying something because you can't find inspiration (which seems to me more along the lines of what ufaforwork2 is talking about, despite his/her wording)
Knock offs often don't seem very inspired, save few most are jumping on to the success train of their source without adding anything genuine to the mix.

You put that nicely. It's at first "alien" to be an artist and communicate your true self through your work if you're not accustomed to it. Copying other stuff can be useful though to develop the craft, but it'll never make a serious dent.

I'm not sorry that I'm sorry for clicking this thread again, forgetting what it was about. Or for lurking these forums for the past ~7 years

...the level design just really isn't that good. It's horrible, but it didn't bother me much

One of the few games I liked, didn't finish, and don't plan on playing again. Tbh got a bit tired of the convoluted story near the end. Killed only one character - Toriel, right at the start before I figured how the game works. It still haunts me.
