That kind of reminds me of this (not done by me, but I don't know the source):

Well, what do you already have? How long do you think it would take to finish the game? What are the current tasks at hand, are they interesting and rewarding? Did you actually try doing it now? (Sometimes I just need to start to let the flow begin again.)

That kind of reminds me of the Half Time Improv Game. (Which means I like it!)

I don't get why religious people in RPGs are always the healers.
Probably the same reason why you never go to the toilet in RPGs: Because magic easily explains everything nicely. Like healing some medium heavy fractures in the blink of an eye with a single wave of your hand - instead of a long operation after which you need to wear a cast for a month.

Thanks for reading this far, and even if you're not looking for a musician, I hope you enjoyed my musics.
Well, I know I did! Where have you been hiding so long? Welcome!

And while we already have a composer for our next bigger project, I would love to have some music made by you for smaller projects when the need arises.

Now i'm wondering should I start to get back to working on a serious project or focus on my art and minor programming skills?
"Or"? That doesn't look contradictory, does it?

Furthermore, kind Sir, let me direct you to the Unpaid Collaborations Forum, or better yet, to the Collab Hook-Up Thread.

Good luck!

When a programmer and an artist love each other very much, a little game is born.
Augh... now I am thinking about
a) people who make games all alone and
b) big teams of people making games.

Thanks to you, I can never think about making games again without remembering that. Are you happy now? Epileptic

(This thread is hilarious.)

Maybe the rule shouldn't be "start small". It should be "Have a plan how to finish it".
When you are starting, and know near-to-nothing about game development at all?

I also thought of a "it's not important how big it is, it is important that you finish it", but this comes with experience too. Which comes when you actually make games. And every, every single project that you do gives you experience, be it "that was to big for me" or "that was awesome and I can actually finish projects". I think the core part is starting at all, and going on.

So... what about "Start whatever you like, but don't let the results drag you down: learn from your mistakes and start again. But start. Now."?

"Traps in castle" was my first thought too, yup.

I don't like the "start small" thing in general, too, for two reasons:

The first is that only I know what I can and want to make and I will be bored by everything too easy, so I won't put my heart in it. And I learn best by diving right in.

The second is that everyone should've experienced the "this was too big", so that they get a feeling about it! Being told to do small things is one thing, actually experiencing that something was too big to swallow is a very different beast! So - start with whatever you like, test your limits and succeed or fail gloriously - and then learn from it, and start again Smiley

I can't manage to beat the final boss D: also, when going back to the beginning, at the level with the sepia-toned people, the game crashes.

Hmm, this bug never happened on my own system. Did you get any error messages when the game crashed?

Haha, nice, I was just typing my reply with what I believe may be the same bug. (And didn't spot Erasers Bug Report before). Anyway, here goes:

I guess I found a bug in the 127 version - savegame is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1977054/saveFilev127
I hope you can reproduce it by going back to the first screen ingame and then pressing Enter till you are after the screen with the first enemies.

It starts with this (and doesn't get any better afterwards):
Quote
ERROR in
action number 1
of Alarm Event for alarm 1
for object objGateExit:

Error in code at line 13:
       if(managerLevel.stageCleared)
                       ^
at position 22: Unknown variable stageCleared

...so, this being said, great game! Fun from first screen till last boss (whose second form I have yet to beat), and has a very polished feel to it. I especially like the ease of play which comes from Backspace and Enter. Oh, and the Food! The Co-Op-Mode looks promising, though I didn't get a chance to play it yet with a friend.

(Needless to say, I am looking forard to "Next in line for this game will be support for 2 controllers and possibly online play. Keep checking in for more info.")
