Nice little game!
IMO there are too much lives.
I finished game with 20 left.
Score is around 68000.

Nope. I'll try it at evening.

Quote
reminds me of your idea. you can use the blood that spills to swim and propel yourself to inaccessible areas.
i would like to see how your idea would work. but i do see the problem with walling yourself in.
That's why I called it 'puzzle'. You can fail to solve the puzzle and restart it right?

Quote
maybe the blood would normally be liquid, but you could hit a button that changes it into a solid.
I had this idea too.
It can result on more complex possible situations.
But, depending on blood physics can lead to abuse possibility...

I still want copy&paste tool Smiley
Hydras can reuse a little compactified polar bear.
It's a somewhat tedious to replicate polar bear again...
Idea: numbers 2 and 3 are unused now.
Make 2 - enable/disable selection mode and 3 copy/paste.
When you press 2 you can select, move around and copy rectangular area.
When you press 2 again - you exit selection mode.
When you press 3, if selection mode is enabled and there is selection - it is copied
into internal clipboard. If there is no selection and there is something in
internal clipboard - whole thing should be displayed instead of
mouse cursor, and placed into grid on click. Pressing 3 again
while it isn't placed into grid should cancel it.

Don't know where to post this.
Looks like here is the place.

Genre: action platformer puzzler.
Protagonist: lo-fi pixelated ninja with trustworthy katana.
Main feature: for some mysterious reason (pixelated) blood of enemies slashed
with katana of protagonist solidifies in a few moments after being shed.

Protagonist should have several katana moves with different direction
of slashes. You can use solid blood of enemies to climb to
otherwise unreachable places. So whole point of each level is
to choose where and how you kill foes.

I'm afraid I won't be able to (try to) implement/prototype this
in visible future. So this is kind of 'idea give away'.
Idea come to my mind while I was falling asleep. Shocked

Now I can't do anything else, but marry play it again from the start Smiley
And make some levels.

Btw it's not my blog. (Don't think it's blog at all).

Stable 60FPS. No spikes, everything is very smooth.

Killed'em all! Smiley

Yey!

Great game I enjoyed it very much!

Challenge of last level was mostly about space.
Here is my compact solution to Schoolteachers level:
http://pleasingfungus.com/?lvl=23&code=g12:3f3;y12:2f3;c12:4f3;p12:5f3;p11:5f0;b11:4f3;r11:6f1;q10:5f0;c10:4f0;c11:3f2;p13:5f2;r13:4f3;b13:6f1;q14:5f2;c15:5f1;p15:4f1;b16:4f0;r14:4f2;q15:3f1;c14:3f0;c13:3f0;c12:12f3;y14:6f2;r15:6f1;c12:11f3;q11:2f0;p10:2f2;r10:1f3;b10:3f1;y9:4f1;c9:3f1;p12:7f3;b11:7f2;r13:7f0;c12:9f3;c12:10f3;b9:2f2;q12:6f2;q12:8f0;

I wish there is a copy&paste tool, so admirals can be solved by reversing, incrementing in one pass, and
reversing back Smiley

Do you plan to add sandbox/level editor?
128  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Manufactoria: A Game About Putting Robots In Their Place on: April 12, 2010, 11:29:27 PM
When returning from level, initial short tooltips for levels where tooltips have two lines
only first line is shown (i.e. 'Test robotic').
Steps to reproduce:
Enter level 'Robotic schoolteachers'.
Press 'back' button.
Move cursor to 'Robotic schoolteachers' level without touching any other levels.
Hint says 'Test robotic'.

I can't get what 'Robotic schoolteachers'  want. I tried different possible ways if interpretation of given task,
but all solutions failed.

And please recheck robotic admirals test cases
129  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Manufactoria: A Game About Putting Robots In Their Place on: April 12, 2010, 11:17:47 PM
IMO 'Robotic children' is more generalized case of 'Robotic academics'.

Didn't noticed that you replied.
Looks like delay of level description depends on speed of last test run Smiley
131  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Manufactoria: A Game About Putting Robots In Their Place on: April 12, 2010, 10:31:00 PM
I can confirm name/description delay bug in main menu.
This time on macosx/safari.
Yesterday it was totally ok with delay.
Today delay was short at first, but not too short to not be able to read, and than become almost instant.

p.s. pressed 'reload', and now delay is fine again.
p.p.s. MWAHAHA! I uncovered truth behind description delay! It depends on speed of last test run Smiley
132  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Manufactoria: A Game About Putting Robots In Their Place on: April 11, 2010, 11:48:02 PM
In 'Robotic androids' there is a typo in the goal text.
"An equal number orof blue and red, in any order".
133  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Manufactoria: A Game About Putting Robots In Their Place on: April 11, 2010, 10:25:55 PM

A little confused about the hotkey-bug. I tried and failed to replicate it, on cats and other levels, with components already selected and not. It did nothing. I'm not even sure how it could do something - the relevant components aren't even loaded for those levels. Can anyone else replicate this?

(The speed bug is also odd... I'll look into that.)
Here is screenshot:

When I press 4 or 5 picture of corresponding gadget blinks for a moment on toolbar.

About speed - it's not bug, it's a wish Smiley
Satellites level takes a few minutes to test at 8x on my computer.
I want 'run without visualisation, but repeat failed level at 1x speed' option Smiley

For some reason when game is in main menu with turned off music,
my safari with only the game loaded consumes like 60% CPU (which is one core + a little more).
I'm on mac mini with 1.6Ghz core duo CPU btw.

Bug: even when some parts are not visible in interface they can be selected with keyboard shortcuts Smiley

Huh, I can't seem to do the same thing, with number keys - though I did find a bug involving space + 'pusher'/'writer' components. Is that what you meant? If not, could you give me more details / mention which level you found the bug on?

On 'Robotic cats' pressing 4 or 5 allow to place writers.
Also on level 'Robotic satellites' unmodified (obviously) empty  robot fails test for some reason.
And on this level I started to want 'max' speed, with failed test repeated with 1x speed.

I love playing games like this Smiley

So far I've beaten Dogs, Fish, Flies, Cats, Mine-sweepers and Soldiers. I'm not completely sure what Chauffeurs wants me to do though :/
Yeah, yeah. I was confused by this 'insert' too.
You need to replicate input with given modifications.

Not to be hyper critical but something about the art feels kind of off to me. I get the sence that its from two games.
I'd say thing on second screenshot looks like it's cel-shaded 3d model.

138  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Music Fall(BETA) on: April 07, 2010, 11:57:20 PM
Quite fun, but IMO somewhat easy.
What level did you try?
I perfected all, but last.
139  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Music Fall(BETA) on: April 07, 2010, 08:42:26 PM
My office mouse can't sustain speed required to catch all notes al hardest level Sad
I'll try at home with razer  Evil

Quite fun, but IMO somewhat easy.

Just confirming: mouse issue in multimonitor configuration seems to be fixed.
Good work!
