when we first met up to form intuition none of us really knew each other and we wanted to get busy making games, not company names. In retrospect it would have been nice to think more about the name and find something that fired us up. But that's hindsight and not all that useful. I'd recommend, in general, trying to put off the naming and branding of your company until you're all more comfortable working together and have a better idea of the direction you want to go.
that said, we're changing our name very very soon! Not really because of what I said above, there are a good many other things that factor into the whole name change.

my initial thought was that the view was one from inside a urethra which at some point had jewellery adorning it.
haha: Yea you have to eat the food to keep up your stomach juices and fight the other chickens off before they get your food. They can blow you back as well. We're toying with doing some MP stuff tomorrow, we shall see... here's an updated shot of the cockpit WIP:

you and your girlfriend can take out all your aggression with: Cowboyana!http://www.messhof.com/games/cowboyana.php...or you could just have make-up sex. you decide. But seriously, this game is sweet and is worth a night or two of western fun. It's both co-op and competitive, and that mix plays out into some playful meta-game stuff between both players. Make sure to hook up two xbox360 controllers to your PC to get the full experience. It offers 1 keyboard multiplayer, but it was really designed for the controller with rotate-reload and action platforming controls.

This is a mockup of a 1-bit, low poly first person exploration game. To be clear, it's not for an actual game in development. i tried to resist redundancy but this is too sweet. this is screaming for "another world" type of a gameplay to go with it.

chrisL: How many beds are there in the private rooms? Would it be possible to stay three there? I think ~$40 is still a bit much for sleeping, with the annoyingly strong US dollar, but if the private room was split three ways it would be quite awesome. We'd only need to find another guy, of course Anyway, I'd say I'm interested, but I'm going to make my final decision on wednesday. AFAIK, it's two single beds in the private room. Unless you want to cram another dude in your bed, I don't think it'll fit 3 Yeah - the US dollar is kind of killing every other currency right now - kinda sucks. Aside from the slightly cheaper dorm room, the private room is the cheapest in SF afaik. I did some final checking. we went with the dorm. There are 4 people max per "dorm room" which is just two stacked bunk beds. I'm not sure if there's a bathroom connected to the room, but it wouldn't surprise me. Essentially, if you have 4 people I'd get the dorm room, it's about $400 cheaper. And even if you didn't have 4, it probably wouldn't be a hassle or anything.

i'm guessing it's about GDC...
we should have a picnic. an indie picnic somewhere in a park and we can blow those big bubbles, fly some kites and wear ascots and just generally have a really wholesome time.
really i just say that because mon/tue days are booked for IGS but wed/thur/fri should be free. most nights are filled with events, dinners and inter-indie-sex so let's get drunk in a park under the noon sun or something.

Are there any transportation options for people without cars? Such as a bus or train station?
you could take a bus to des moines and meet one of us there. ames is 30 minutes north by interstate. PM me if you decide to do this and we'll work something out. Also, it's quite possible our jam's theme will include the cockpit compo. and... mike might bring steel battalion and we'll throw it up on the 56 inch.

Trying to break the curse of the unfinished project with a nice, simple puzzle platformer. I think I've spent far too much time working on the level editor and its radial menus though... looks slick, but simultaneously may be the source of your curse... good luck!

Actually I think software patents are kind of ridiculous. If it's a complete rip off that's one thing, but copying game mechanics... I can't see what's so wrong with it. Exactly. The whole complete rip off thing is covered by copyright anyhow. Software patents are all about covering a broad and vague amount of ground so the motherfuckers can charge the other devs using their "ideas". Copyright is all you really need, and even today people are challenging that with user-generated content, parody and all sorts of other "new-media".

The reason I ask the question is because someone invented the first person shooter, and basically all first person shooters are exactly the same, but nobody is suing anybody over it? That's because Carmack invented the FPS and he (like any other decent human being) says " fuck software patents". Bless his heart. As far as my amateur knowledge of patents goes, you can't receive a patent (although you could certainly apply) if someone else has done it before you and it can be proven. The legal term for evades me, but most legalese does... The person who original created the idea is free to apply for a patent, but if they don't it's not like it passes on to the next guy in line or anything, it's still "owned" by the dude who did it first. Someone correct me if i'm wrong here.
