1  Developer / Technical / Motion tracking location within OBJ file (UNITY) on: February 01, 2021, 04:52:38 PM
Hello,

I am currently working on using UNITY to model surgical procedures using a magnetic position sensor by Polhemus. The Unity script written by the company has everything working as it should, the only question I have is, the tracker is set to the CENTER of the MESH which I updated for our application to simulate the the surgery we are doing. However I want the tracker to be in an offset, not the center of the mesh, but I am not able to do that.

To be exact, the sensor will be attached to the side of the jaw in reality and I just want the same to be true inside Unity.

Please see image for description, please also ask any questions if I'm not clear. Thanks for reading!

Hello,

We are a team of Dentists from NYU College of Dentistry working on a research project that uses a magnetic tracking sensor to simulate motion. The last bit of our project requires visualization using Unity and the PDI of the sensor for some custom tuning.

The tracker comes with a package that consists of a C# PLStream.cs script and an example scene, plus a Windows executable called UnityExport that connects to the tracker and relays tracker data to PLStream. -- However, we need some tweaking to fit our purpose.

This is the link to the user manual of the tracking device if you'd like to view it.

If this seems as something that interests you please shoot us a msg. The work will be published in peer reviewed journals and apart from compensation ($) your name will be published to the research paper.

Thanks!
Adam
