An excellent day to you.

I am a writer. Specifically, I like to write for games. I've always been intrigued by games and I've almost always been appalled by the writing of games. I've come across enough gems not be jaded though. Death rally and star control 2 come to mind. I sometimes wonder if anybody has seen the writing of that awesome destruction rally game. Who'd expect that from a race game?

Typically people are not looking for a writer though, of course. Many games do not need good writing. Oblivion seems to be a good game without good writing. Fallout 3 is a game made by the same makers and has more atmosphere because it's based on better writing.
Yet, from a writer's standpoint, fallout 3 could have been much better if it was written as creatively as fallout 2.

I am not a good programmer. So I am looking for people that want to work on games together. I can deliver the writing for a game that needs some. I can evaluate if you're telling the story right. Whether you need to use text at all or a better of using visual signals that players can understand. So ask me for help. PM me or mail me.

I am also looking for a programmer specifically who would like to work on an artistic game, somewhat in the vein of the games made by Terry: http://distractionware.com/

I have a completed design doc for this game. If an 2D artist would like to join up, that'd be nice too, although not essential.

Hey

I'm the leader of a small band of programmers, and we have been hard at work building a 2d turn based strategy game.  It has come a long way, but we still need some art, as well as a storyline (don't all games  Wink) to make it that much more fun.  Probably the most important part of the game is the 2d graphics and animation, so it would be appreciated if someone who wanted to help out had experience in the field.  However, any art style is fine, and, as always, any help is welcome.  Most of the engine is already finished, but this game will also eventually feature online multiplayer, enemy AI, a map editor with scripting capabilities, and even a custom sound track.  That might seem like a lot of work, and it is, but all members in our group are dedicated and loyal.  Here's a quick screenshot of what we have as of now: (Everything is programmer art)

It's still a work in progress, but is already fun to play, especially against a friend.
You can actually download the game here (runs in java):
http://cremelianwarsx.googlecode.com/files/Cremelian%20War%20X%20Applet%20Ver%5B0.13%5D.zip
simply download and extract the zip, then click the .html file to play.  Easy.

If you're interested in helping in any way, or just want to comment on the game, you can send me an email at [email protected]

thanks

Hey all,

I'd like someone able to make a couple illustrations for me. Ideally, the number would be around a dozen. The style should be pretty basic, but it's something we'll discuss. Anyone interested, please PM me so I can tell you about the project, and you can see whether that works for you or not Smiley

Hi All,

I have reached a point where I am more than confident in my visual and coding skills to be able to tackle a whole commercial project from start to finish.
Only this is that development is very slow when you are alone and spending years doing something doesn't pay the bills on time so I am more than eager to collaborate with another artist or two.
This is a project with serious commercial intentions behind meaning the quality has to be above a predetermined bar set by the team. And finishing the project is a must so a lot of communication would be going on.
I would be coder because I have a specific technology in mind but I can also create visual assets when needed.
My idea is to create a platformer but forget about preconceived ideas about jumping on other people heads. This game needs to be FUN, not boring.

Let me know what you think and we'll take it from there.

Thank you to everyone who's replied to me in regard to this request! I think I found someone who is a qualified candidate via TIGSource, so I'm no longer in need of a partner for programming at the moment... Thanks!

I am looking for a programmer to partner with for the development of 2D indie games. I am an independent designer who's style is a throw-back to the retro classics that many grew up enjoying. I like to marry tried and true old-school mechanics and themes with new-school levels of detail and philosophies. I have several fully documented designs and working prototypes that I would like to complete with the assistance of someone who really knows what they're doing when it comes to programming.

My strengths are ideas, art, design, and direction of the project as a whole. I consider myself a creative visionary who is best at conceptualizing the big picture from start to finish, but I lack the time or ability to bring these ambitious visions to life on my own. This is where you come in!

I'm looking for a technically-inclined person who is obsessed with building things to spec; someone who enjoys working from blue prints and following the plan. Above all, I would like to partner with someone who is reliable and committed to putting their time, energy, and passion into bringing ideas to life. This individual wouldn't necessarily need industry experience, just a love of game design and making things work.

However, the ideal individual for this partnership should be well-versed in a flexible programming language with knowledge of how to program online games (not MMOs, necessarily). My target platforms for development are PC via Steam, XBox Live Arcade, Nintendo DS, and mobile, respectively. If developing for PC I am open to someone who is an expert with Game Maker 7, as it is an application I am also familiar with. Otherwise, you will need to be able to create a level editor for some of the games we will be making so I can interface with that aspect of the design.

Unless these projects can be funded, I cannot offer any compensation during development, but I can promise that any revenue made from the sale or prize money awarded to these games will be distributed evenly. I am confident that our games will be highly marketable if executed properly.

If this is something that interests you and you feel confident in your ability to meet the requirements noted here, please don't hesitate to drop me an email telling me about yourself. I look forward to hearing from you!

I am a programmer with experience in many different graphical API. The main problem is that I lack a artist to actually produce anything worth while.

I have had two game development focused educations for a total of 4 years + 1½ years industry experience. I want to work with a person(artist) or person(artist, designer) that have free time over for a project. I work with c++ and recently started to tackle AS3 in a small way, but I am not ready to make anything complex with that.

The goal would be to make a small game to see if our minds click, if we do, maybe more complex games can follow. I am currently unemployed and really really need something cool to do so I would put alot of time into this.

What I am looking for in a artist is dedication and the will to bounce ideas, as well as begin able to use artistic freedom in his/her work, while not breaking the set limits of the game. Designers with no artistical skill need not apply.

(I won't do MMO's, epic RPGs or High End 3D games)

Ps. I am easiset to reach trough a PM.

Hi, short and simple, I'm looking for someone to do a bit of animating for me and possibly some pixel art.  I don't have any real experience in making games and this will be my first 'proper' attempt since I don't know any programming languages and suchforth.  I'm using Construct and the game itself will be in the same vein as Shotgun Ninja by Cactus.  Give me a PM if you're interested at all!

Hey there, I'm looking for an artist to collaborate with to create some flash games. Initially, I'd like to start small and work up to more complex games in order to gain some chemistry with the artist. Here are some game related projects I've completed recently:

Hello! I need a collaborator. I've gotten more than halfway competent with Game Maker and can churn out concept prototypes all day, but I always choke when it comes to fleshing out my ideas. I've always felt more suited to a smoothing-and-tweaking sort of role. Anyone out there have good ideas and the pixel-wrangling ability to do them justice, but no desire to write the code?

EDIT:
It occurs to me that I need to present some evidence that I know what I'm doing, so here's a little thing I've been calling NINJA GUY:

Ahemm...you, yes you sir, we're going to collaborate cause your cool.

I'm one pixel artist looking for a programmer to create lovely pixel games with, but slow and steady seems to be the tradition when making games, so I'd like a short/small game, not a life long commitment, saying that, a year to create a small game is fine with me.

More about me you say?
So who am I, I go about as Jim, but my name is Damian, I've been pixeling for about a year, but my strength is knowledge of what I'm doing, I've spent more time this last year learning the rules..... NO!, GUIDLINES of pixel art and I've come to a stage where I'd like to start pushing my capabilities. Blah blah blah, I also like to ramble  Grin

Alsmost forgot to post some of my work XD

I love pirates! and mock_ups

EGO_mock_up a game I started making, but my programing sucked! And then I was using simple GML, then again, I don't seem to like programming as much as I love art. Here's a link to the prototype/
http://www.mediafire.com/error.php?errno=320

Thats me, kinda, I have purple hair now

I was playing with this one, I wanted to play with AA and with the restircted pallet, I actually learnt something from this, lol

This one was going to be made into a game, but not sure what happened, also note this isn't the last version, allot was fixed, on this image.

Well thats all I feel like sharing with you, I've done allot, most of its on one of two computers, and unfinished.

I'm interested in expanding my game prototype: Portals thru Dreams into a more elaborate and fully featured game.  I would love to collaborate with an artist on this project.  I would like to take the existing art style and expand on it and make it more detailed.  The full commercial game would have parallax backgrounds and larger worlds to explore and tons of enemies, powerups, etc.

I've just started considering this and am very open to further discussion and ideas. You can play the prototype at: http://blog.graduategames.com

Please PM me or email: gradgames[at]gmail[dot]com with rates, ideas, etc.

Hey!

I want to make a retro puzzle platformer with the graphics of a C64. Here are the graphics I've made for it that represent the style I'm going for:

From a flashback:

And animations for the hero - Barry:

I need a programmer to help me bring it to life, hopefully with my friend Mark programming it too. I also need someone to help me with level design. I have some music tracks for it that my friend Pete made for the game which are really good and atmospheric. I also have a pretty good story for it which will never be directly told to the player but they must figure it out from whats going on around them!

Anyone interested, please email me at [email protected]. My website is www.curiositylabs.co.uk

Over the past few months i have been working on a design for a new 3d MMORPG (but more of a MORPG as it takes a Massive user base to get that extra M Wink )

Im now at the point that i need to build a team to get there. This would be unpaid work but you would be compensated after the game is released. In particular we are looking for both 2d and 3d artists to begin the games media.

The game, Dry Land Online is set in a post apocalyptic world in which the modern world was submerged underneath the ocean. DLO Earth, is almost completely submerged under water.

For some more information, go to www.blackbranchstudios.com/dloblog

send me a message and we can talk about you joining the team as well as giving you more info on the project.

Hello guys!

Here is my project needing mainly more programmers, but we have some artist places too. Take a look:

Team name:
Wizards of the Blizzard

Brief description:
We are a team developing an 3D Engine for 2 years and a half, our focus is on gameplay rather than graphics.
Our Engine have the following features already implemented:

    * Animated Characters and static Objects
    * Sound Engine (Format support: Ogg, Wav)
    * 3D Engine (supports for selection, 3D movement, Action System using animations of skinned characters and list of actions to create combo and to store multiple commands, Support for 3D Model Formats: Md5mesh and .OBJ, among other things...)
    * User Modifiable Interface
    * Lua Script Support to load and unload Characters, Objects and to define the Scenario. (So artists could easily test different Characters, Objects and Scenarios Sets without the need of compiling the source code)
    * VBOs, World specific drawing optimizations, Memory Sharing support for Wav, Ogg, Md5mesh and Obj, among other optimizations.
    * Compilable under Linux and Windows. And could be ported to all other platforms supported by SDL.
    * Effect's System featuring a extensible set of effects that are configured via Lua scripts, but that are implemented and extensible in C/C++. In a way that artists have more possibilities and a faster way of testing. And that programmers could set things up for performance.
    * Well Documented code in our wiki for the developers and a documentation of how to use and modify the Lua scripts and other settings for the artists who are going to work with scenario design and modeling.
    * Bounded Box Collision detection.
    * Basic Artificial Intelligence

The Game will be an Action RPG with the Gameplay:

Imagine that you are a magician in our Fantasy world, who wants to get a special ring in a place where some animals live, but they are too strong for you, so you can not get any near. And you are just lazy to talk with people and discover the monster's weak points (although you could do so, just like in other rpgs). But you come with an idea, the place where these monsters live are involved in a forest, so why not burn the forest and let the monsters run away or die before entering? A much simpler solution and that is how you play it. That is what a really modifiable environment let a player do.

And the following features:
    - Fantasy style
    - Platform: PC
    - Entirely destructible environment. (destructible trees, buildings, people and so on)
    - Modifiable terrain
    - Entirely modifiable game history (every game player will be different, because of how the game is designed)
    - Lively AI

Milestone:

As a milestone, that is needed for any innovative and complex project, we will make before a 3D fighter game with multiplayer, this way we will implement some of the features needed to do the final game. So we are not losing our track, but making it more stable and with all the feedback of a ready game, we will have a much stronger engine to achieve our target. This is, among all of the other benefits that you could think of a published and finished game.

Target aim:
Our aim is to produce a complete 3D Game Engine released as shareware/freeware. Some parts could also be released as LGPL or GPL.
And to release our Action RPG as a Proprietary Game.

Compensation:
-If you played any game you have probably asked “why cant I do that?”... so I myself hate when this happens and I am invinting you in a team that wants to exterminate this question in our games.
-If you ever thought “What the hell are those programmers doing that the gameplay are so linear??”, you know how rewarding it is to take the challenge of changing that.
-The fun and challenge of producing a very different and interesting game.
-Every work accepted by artists will have an instant reward by being recorded in our Art's Page http://fog.neopages.org/wotb/wotb_art.php and our Credit's Page http://fog.neopages.org/wotb/wotb_credits.php
-Members will also receive a salary as soon as we sell a game or receive enough money in some way.

Technology:

Our Engine supports Linux and Windows right now.
Languages used: C/C++, GLSL and Lua.
Libraries used: SDL, OpenGL, OpenAL, SDL, SDL_Images, tolua++, libnoise, GLU and GLEW.
Our Engine supports Md5mesh and .Obj 3d model formats, so any tools that could create it are welcome (I normally use Blender), the test of Characters and Objects done by artists could be done easily without compiling the code, by just changing some filenames in a lua script. The Scenario also could be entirely changed by script, so artists designing those features will have a fast test process available.
Our Sound Engine supports WAV and Ogg, mostly because MP3 is copyrighted.

Talent needed:

We are looking for outstanding multispecialists that could actively enter in a place below:

ARTISTS:

Music Composer
Task: Create Ambient songs and Music Effects

3D Modeller
Task: Create low poly characters with normal maps and other low poly objects like buildings and trees.

2D Concept Art
Task: Design Characters and create effects

PROGRAMMERS:

Effect's Specialist
Task: Extend our shader framework in C/C++ and implement new shaders and features. Use our Effect's framework to include or use new features like a particle engine.
Knowledge: C++ and shaders (GLSL and others)

Lua's Specialist
Task: Develop a GUI modifiable in Lua artistically and with their features implemented in C/C++. Extend the functionalities of our other Lua scripts and interfaces.
Knowledge: Lua and C++.

Network Specialist
Task: Develop a Network system using any library available or from scratch and integrate it on our framework.
Knowledge: C++ and experience in programming sockets.

"Unnamed"
Task: You does not fit in any pattern so there is no name that could describe what you do. But you program so well that you do not like when people give you a main task, you like to program and wants to do as always lot of tasks. Just because you can!
Knowledge: Strong skills. If you do not know if you have enough, this is not your place.

Team structure:
We are just a duo, and we are together working on this for quite some time. It was already 2 years and a half since the conception.

Our current members are: Danilo (myself), Ourdras and Mario.

Tasks:
Danilo - Artificial Intelligence and Core System Programmer
Mario - Physics Engine Programmer
Ourdras - 3D and Concept Artist

Talent Needed: Pixel Artist

I'm working on my first game, an action RPG/arcade shooter game called Incoming that combines elements of Missle Command, Space Invaders and various Wave-based arcade shooters along with RPG upgrade elements and a story of a lone scientist stranded on an dark, alien planet. I created a mockup using some edited pre-existing images to show what im trying to accomplish visually.

The game will have a dark tone, as the planet has no sunlight, enemies will be very scarcely lit, and will be revealed by lighting effects when explosions occur, or the user aquires floating flares they can fire into the sky to reveal enemies. I'll be creating the game and the music, and need a pixel artist that can help be accomplish what I want this game to present visually.

Enemies will be grotesque aliens/ most that will fly down, but some that are also capable of ground level combat with the player. I will provide reference photos to any artist that wants more information.

This is a Freeware project, and thus no one will gain financially from this product. However, cranking out a stellar product could open doors for us.

Thanks ahead of time for reading and considering, and I hope to hear responses from you guys! Send me a Personal Message if you are interested!
